I managed to (literally) start the week just gone off with a bang by falling off and braking my collar bone. Wasn't even a bad fall! Luckily it is fractured and very small but I am out of riding for a good few weeks. I was just interested in peoples experiences of being back in the saddle after...
I personally find in some horses hackamores do more of a job than a strong bit. I rode a very strong mare a few weeks ago who had been in a snaffle but been changed to a gag. I almost had less control than when I rode her in a snaffle as she was fighting against the bit. I rode another strong...
Hello.
I am possibly showing a horse in hand and ridden on Christmas eve. Her hooves aren't dark so painting them with a black hoof oil wouldn't really work. I was wondering what anyone can suggest? I've thought of clear oil but not sure whether its really worth it. Might try a glittery clear...
The ones I was bought today I already have so assumed that as the size I have now fits well it made sense to buy the same. As it was a show stand there was no were I could of tried them on. The legs fit me perfectly! There is just no elasticity within the waist to pull them together to clip...
Anyone ever bought a pair of fitting jods with a dodgy waistline? I un knowingly today did this, so disappointed! :( I can't return them as they were bought from a show. Is there anywere I can take them too to have the waist unstitched and elastic fitted in? There really nice and fit great...
I find general long socks from a high street store does the job! Other than that Scats sell Toggi or whatever they may have in, in packs of 3 and there usually around the £15 mark. These are brilliant! My Ariats just wont zip and will be too tight if my sock's are too thick but as I often change...
I have a pair of Ariat Heritage III's. Owned them now a year. I remember them being very tight to begin with! I wear mine 2 or 3 times a week now and they've really loosened up ( nothing dramatic though). I think it's all down to the fact there leather and leather products start out very stiff...
Yes I would be. I have ridden bareback before but never in a canter. I will be speaking to them about it as I haven't said whether I am or not. Thank you!
I would be going with a riding school where the horses are generally calmer. But when a horse wants to go they want to go! Thats my only concern really. That on top of the fact it is Possibly bareback. Thank you both!! :)
Looking into riding on the beach as part of a group. Never done it before! Anyone able to share there experiences please? Just generally wondering how the horses behavior and speed changes as I'm aware beaches can be exciting places for them! I have trekked before on open mountains and galloped...
Stirrup change isn't the answer as I don't have my own and ride a variety. I know I could buy my own to change but it wouldn't always work. But thanks for the suggestion!
I've been regularly riding for over 6 years. I never in the past had any discomfort when landing after dismounting, but in the last 9/10 months I've been getting agonizing pain in the ball area of the soles of my feet. I'm pretty certain I am landing correctly as I was assessed on this at one...
