As above really - it's probably been done to death! We always end up with 'hurried' or 'not enough ground cover' as we simply quicken rather than lengthen. Pony in question is a Welsh D and quite workmanlike in movement, she also tends to become a bit short in the neck/frame. Any tips or...
Are you affiliated or unaffiliated? You see all combinations of plaited, left, running plaits. I've taken feathers off my D and I plait her up for BD. Unaff I tend to leave her as she is (though she isn't au natural'). There is no right or wrong, it's not essential to plait. As long as you are...
Even in the intro test the judge will be marking to the scales of training....I found when I started off with my mare they wanted to see some kind of babyish 'round' outline at least. How does she work normally, hollow and above the bit? Also all judging is different and some score more harshly...
Ah right - thanks - I guess there's me not reading the rules properly again! I assumed still that the horse just needed to be registered at the point of competing at regionals so I'd best check that out. I've not spoken to them yet but I'll drop in an email now and call next week. That may...
Any ideas why this might be....?
We entered and won a BD Prelim class a couple of weeks ago, the results are up but I'm not listed at all under any section of the class....nor when I search under my name or horses' either! Just a bit worried as this was a class to count for points for...
Mine is in an Ideal Jessica (DR) and a GFS pro event (GP). Been through some rubbish saddlers and ill fitting saddles so hoping we are now on the right track! Lots seem to have Ideals, I'd love a native pony saddle but budget won't allow sadly :(
I've come to a decision to sell my mare, a mixture of reasons, mainly financial but also struggling with time. I have found increasingly over the last few months that I've been riding because I have to....not because I want to, rushing to do jobs etc. This is no reflection on my mare or anything...
Again - depends what is included. I pay £60 p/w for assisted DIY.....lovely yard, 20x60 floodlit school, turnouts and brings ins included (with rug changes and picking out feet/hosing legs if required) and unlimited good quality hay - they also put hay out in winter daily. On top of this I still...
Thanks for input - much as I thought really!! We are getting better slowly and I know in my head often what I should be doing...its just getting it to all the relevant body parts! I do feel that I've perhaps outgrown current instructor but only in the sense where she is unable to explain some of...
As above really. Am I best having weekly lessons with someone who is good....or fortnightly/3 monthly lessons with someone slightly more pricey but I feel is excellent - we gain a bit more from the sessions? Bear in mind though I'm a bit 'lost' on my own in the school so need all the help I can...
As a native it'll be fine to not plait. There is no obligation to anyway! You'll be fine so long as you're clean, tidy and presentable. I trim and plait my section D but that's my choice and I've seen plenty left au naturel!
