Unfortunately we don't have good terrain in our place, and i'm still getting comfortable with hacking as she's a spooky horse, we've mostly got roads to cover on our hack instead of woods and plains (would love that though!)
I feel like when i watch a rider go into canter it looks almost easy...
Thank you everyone for the advice! I'll work on my sitting trot. And as much as i can do is move forward, my balance is perfect during rising trot and i'm able to keep myself centred, but as you mentioned i'm guessing it's just me helplessly trying to go from rising trot into canter while making...
Her owner has ridden her and manages to get her into canter perfectly. Another one of my friends has ridden her but he rushes the horse into canter and it's kind of like the easiest way to get her into canter.
I was also at the stage where i wondered if it was pain or discomfort, but i've...
Hi everyone!
I feel like there are many posts and videos online that show how to go from trot to canter, but I feel like i'm not really getting anywhere.
I get the hang off my seat pretty well but its when i'm getting into canter and ask for an aid (sit, inside leg on girth and outside leg...
The owner is willing to give me the Horse for free with her tack, she's a really nice person! I'll carry on saving defo, my parents would help me out until I get settled in! :).
Faith'a farrier comes every 8 weeks as her feet are in really good condition, it would be £60 for front pair of shoes, I've included hay but I'm not exactly sure how much a horse consumes so I guessed £40 per month also depending on weight/size, and currently Faith gets a lot of hay as there's...
Names Julia. Currently loaning a horse which has made my life enjoyable and change my life for the best! I'm 14 years of age, if I become independent and mature enough I'll be looking into buying a horse but for now it's a dream that im working my way towards.
Not a dream someone could change...
Make sure your heels are in line with your hips and not too far forward as this could cause your leg to go straight. With Rising Trot I remember I started off with going straight up, but after I learnt that you use your hips to go up and forward almost as if your rocking with your hips except...
I've really looked into it and tried to add the finances of my daily life to it. This isn't a half hearted choice I made, and I do realise I won't have all the money in the world and I know it will be hard, but it will be worth it in the end!
The current yard I'm look at would be £55 per week + cost of hard feed. Which I'm guessing is around £35 per month depending on the horse. That would make around £260 per month. Plus every 6-8 weeks get their feet checked/shoes on either front or all. I'd do turning in and out, mucking myself...
Don't worry you weren't being harsh! I'll take your advice :)
For my loan horse I visit her 3 times a week, it's a 30 minute drive from mine, and 40 minute straight after school. I wouldn't want to burden mum with me going to another place during the week, the nearest riding school is 40...
Thanks everyone! I am still a novice but it's a dream I'm currently pursuing, and I really do realise what hard work it is to own a horse, and my parents have lived on a farm before so they are also aware of the costs :)
I'm not planning to go to university yet, just college! I'm not planning...
Im able to stand in my stirrups For a couple of strides, and I think the only thing I'm aware of which I'm still working on is keeping my leg long and stretched, with my heels down. But I've seen to have corrected that on my previous lesson!
I'm currently loaning Faith and get lessons from the owner. I was wandering what should I be able to do before I can canter?
Im currently able to do posting/rising trot, I understand my diagonals, and I've rode without reigns (on a lunge) so that I've improved my balance.
The owner is a...
