    Box rest boredom

On weekdays I was only there morning and evening so I would put the things in morning, as that's when the others went out. I didn't do anything in the evenings as she'd be settled for the night then like normal... I'd say good at lunchtime when you go as that's when he'll be on his own...?

    Box rest boredom

Also, just remembered, when my thoroughbred was on box rest years ago, I got big Coke bottles, hung them on string and painted molasses on for him to lick off, kept him amused :-)

    Box rest boredom

I agree in that they get used to it; my big mare was on box rest for four months and she was unhappy but well behaved and knew what was what. Is this the norm nowsays

I've never understood the whole thing about trashing fields. Ours go out all day in winter, ponies out 24/7 all year and some of the horses 24/7 in summer and although the fields don't look great come February, we roll/turbo/harrow in the spring and always have more grass than we need by...

    Being Super brave

Mine sneaks them up when my back's turned too, then tells me afterwards how big they are :) I think the key is having someone who will push you just out of your comfort zone, but sympathetic enough not to push you too far, so you feel you've achieved something every time. It's all about taking...

Very tense horse - any ideas?

Loads of good suggestions here, just to add, if she's generally tense, an Equilibrium massage pad on before work might help, worked wonders on a very tense horse I used to have, good luck.
