Howdy everyone.
Going to bring my yearling (13.2hh traditional cob) out to two or tree shows this summer. I have an IW 505 with a partition. Someone suggested I would I be better off buying a single breastbar and travelling her with no partition. As she's still small I was hoping I could train...
Thanks so much for all your input everyone.
I need to decide if I'll go for one big barn or an L shaped block. I never minded the elements when mucking out loose boxes before, and I have allergies so maybe that's why I'm biased? I can see the advantages though. If I had a covered wash bay I...
Oh brilliant loads here. The trough idea is a good one, hadn't planned for the pipes yet but this makes a lot of sense. Definietly want to avoid muddy gateways. I'll have water and electric thankfully!
I'm in Ireland so the rates won't apply.
Currently thinking L shape which will face East...
I'm planning a stable yard, will probably complete in phases but I like to have a long term plan to work towards. Ideally, end up with 3 stables, a tack room, feed room and somewhere for hay/bedding. Maybe a wash area. Considering all weather turnout area. Also want to account for the...
Hello!
My one acre paddock is finally getting a well deserved break. Its very very eaten down, muddy in parts and has been in use for quite a while.
So I have a boom sprayer, lots of energy and some time on my hands. There are some nettles I know, lots and lots of buttercups, dandelion and...
Thanks so much, exactly what I wanted to know! My filly is called Nova too so maybe it's a sign 🤣 She's a hairy cob so I just need to know the trimmers can handle quite a bit.
Can anyone recommend me a trimmers please? I need it for a youngster, I could stick an electric toothbrush in her ear so I'm assuming she'll be OK with one 😅
Just for tidying her up for a few in hand shows. Ideally would love one that could manage some body hair for a trace clip or that, but...
Hi, I was in the market recently for an everyday jeep that would also pull one horse when needed. I got a Hyundai Santa Fe (towing capacity of 2500kg). I've yet to get the towbar on, but it's a lovely jeep to drive and not too hard on fuel. It came highly recommended as a towing vehicle.
Such good advice, thanks everyone! Maybe I'll line up a non horsey friend, I even think I'd be less nervous just having someone to chat to.
Only smaller shows here anyway really, I reckon her classes will be very small.
I might invest in a hard showing hat - I think my biggest fear is I...
I took a few years away from the horsey world, had my son and I missed it all so much. So I bought a foal last year, she's a traditional cob and a very sweet sort. She's now leading/easy to groom/pick up feet etc.
I hope to show her in hand two or three times this summer. The thought of doing...
Hello those of us who have a feathery type.
I have a yearling who is very very hairy - I noticed more than one of the horses in the herd she came from scratching (all gypsy cobs). So I treated her for mites with Frontline before introducing her to others. That was about two months ago.
How...
