My horse went really lame with thrush despite using iodine twice daily which had no effect. I used hydrogen peroxide for a few days and then purple spray he was sound again within a week.

    Pregnancy and riding

I've just stopped at 24 weeks. Feel fine at the time but horse is very bouncy and always get a sore back later on and the next day so I've given up until the baby is born. Luckily got friends that will ride him to keep him ticking over.

How do you introduce new horses to others?

I've bad just done this this morning with my horse at a new yard. My horse was had to stay in a few days on arrival whilst being wormed (the others are living out). He went out on a hack with 2 of the geldings last night and all went well. He was due to go in a field with 4 other geldings but we...

How far have/ would you travel?

With my current horse I travelled from iom to warwickshire to see him. Had already prebooked the vetting for the same day as wanted to be there for it and didnt want to have to fly back at a later date for it. Had him transported to me a few days later on the boat. Lucky I liked him as would...

How did you feel when you bought your first horse?

I got my second horse in November and I was thinking "what have I done? Do I really want all this responsibility?". I lost my confidence on my first horse - on the ground and in the saddle as she was very difficult so was questioning whether this was actually a good idea and was i ready? My new...

    Wow What a servixe

I have from Equipet. Wanted a rambo rug for my new boy but didnt want to pay nearly £300 for one. Ordered one Boxing Day where I managed to get it for £160, the photograph and description implied the hood was included so I was pretty miffed when it didn't arrive with the rug. I emailed and said...

HOW do you get the chuffing Likits out of the tongue twister??!!

Likit pliers - they're about £5. I tried everything to get old manky ones out of a likit left in my horses new stable. Switched them round to new ones and he won't touch them ..

My mare keeps bucking out in stable help!

My last horse did this but not as often as yours. She seemed to only start doing it when the horse next to her was brought in and usually around feeding time. She was a bad weaver as well and preferred to be out as much as possible. It wasn't as regularly as every night (that I know of) and...

DIY livery, does this sound reasonable..??

Number 2 :) I think having your instructor is invaluable to help and having a nice yard owner is always a bonus. I pay £165 a month for mine on DIY, have two indoors a summer field they set up for show jumping in summer. Down sides are no one on hand to turn out/bring in. I'm very very lucky I...

Following on from vet request - should I walk away from pony with heart murmur..?

My new boy (he's 13) has a grade 2 heart murmur and passed a 5 stage vetting. The vet said it is common in horses and it wasn't a cause for concern at all. His heart rate was fine after strenuous exercise and slowed down at a normal rate when resting. He's done a lot of hunting and jumping and...

    Vetting a horse before sale

I didnt vet the first one which resulted in the horse PTS within 10 months with severe kissing spines, navicular and stifle pain, she cost me £3,000 to purchase. Learnt my lesson and the new one was 5 stage vetted. I would also vet a horse now no matter what the purchase price.

    Why would someone do this?

Why on earth would they accept a partial refund if the rug was (apparently) a 6'0 and they wanted a 6'6? A part refund wouldn't make a too small rug fit. Sounds dodgy. Hope you get it sorted.
