I looked at him, but I thought he looked a bit heavy. I wondered why he had gone down the dressage route rather than jumping. He HAAS enough blood to use foreventing (73%). ,but for me he’s not enough of a blood type.
I cant understand why vets are charging an in foal fee when youve actually paid for their services anyway in the stud package. Surely if theyve got the mare in foal they have only succeeded in doing what youve already paid them for!
Your mare has plenty of blood so you have an advantage. Harlequin du Carel ( fair amount of blood) seems to be popular in Ireland, lots of nice horses coming through by him. Contendro 1 is top of the world rankings, a lot of his are climbing up the levels now.
We are going with either Jaguar...
The problem here is we are still behind the Continentals and the Irish when it comes to breeding. There is no data base either, unlike the Irish Sport Horse data base. Here you can look up the dam line and see the progeny and get their competition records.
Speak to Lorna at Elite Stallions. She has a wealth of knowledge regarding temperament, what type of foals the stallions throw, size etc. She will advise you of what stallion to use.
As to using a dressage stallion, why not if that's what you want to breed.
It could be a connection issue. A friend's young horse suddenly became settled in the mouth. He was found to have discomfort in his sacroiliac region.
If he's just suddenly started doing this, have you upped the intensity of his training and he's finding it difficult?
It's what your horses get used to I suppose. At our yard as youngsters they are out 24/7 . In the winter they are barned in groups with no turnout. The ridden horses go out at night in the summer and come in during the day, and they are ready and waiting at the gate. God help you if you try and...
At our yard which is clay, they have to restrict turn out in the winter. They are still out at the moment, but the horses are desperate to come back in after a couple of hours. They start hanging around the gate and running up and down. None of them enjoy being out all day.
It makes me smile...
