Hello everyone, not been on in a while! :)
basically, i'm having real issues with striding into fences recently :( me and toto were always absolutely fine with strides, i'd just let him work it out and not interfere and try to put him on a stride, as this is what he prefers and jumps better...
Guilty of this :D
Have touched his ears several times :rolleyes: But usually about 3/4 of the way down his neck :) always make sure i pick up again quickly though, never had problems, its just a habit really, get scared i'll pull him in the mouth :p
Another bolting one, was on a hack with my mum walking with me, Toto spooked I think and that was it, I would have been 11 at the time, off he went down a load of tracks we'd never been on, down a huge hill, out a gate that someone had left open (!) onto a main road, I lost my balance and fell...
:eek::eek::eek:
saw a lady riding a horse on the road today, with no hat on, no hi-viz, horse in a headcollar and leadrope as reins, and to top it off, leading another horse whilst riding, on the wrong side of the road...
What would be the best joint supplement for Toto (thats not going to cost a bomb!) :p
He's a slightly cobby 14.1hh, almost 15, is ridden 5/6 days a week and is an allrounder, doing showing/working hunter in summer, he jumps once a week occasionally twice if got a show, up to 3ft normally...

Hello,
i've never done working hunter before but want to have a go this year with my stocky connie x, but no idea what i should wear, as i've only done showing before. I'm 16, will i be ok in beige jods (well i say beige, they are quite dark beige, 'mink' coloured apparantly) , black jodhpur...
I think he genuinely is spooky though, he's a bit of a general wimp on the yard :p Some fillers he'll be fine with, others he'll do the whole eyes out on stalks, snorting etc :o
Just a bit of advice please, Toto can be very spooky with fillers/planks at shows, he tends to either spook and run sideways as soon as we turn towards the jump, or he'll skid to a stop right at the last moment, what's the best way to keep him going forward? At home he's fine with new fillers so...
I've only actually been to one show that gave out prizes! Most just give rosettes/trophies, but I won a grooming box with plaiting bands, some gloves and a leadrope in it at this show :)
