    Hunting excitement!

I'm like a kid at Christmas, every day before I'm due to go cubbing/hunting I'm ridiculously excited. Infact annoyed, that tomorrows meet is at 4pm so I have to wait all day for it to start! This doesn't seem to be lessening at all the more times I go. Please, someone, tell me that it's not...

The right time to move on, and a weight question?

An Arab is one of the best weight carriers due to its compact back and high bone density. Much better at carrying weight than a 17hh long back horse. Your aunt would be absolutely fine.

Update on Gamble the Dumped Foal

I couldn't sleep last night, so read through the first thread at 4 am this morning and it made me cry! I just logged on to see if there was an update, thanks for keeping us all informed - please continue with the updates, I'm so happy Gamble seems a little better this morning.

    Very kind neighbour

I'm over the moon so had to share it! We live next door to the game keeper of the estate we live on. When we moved in she had some labs pups that were a couple of days old so we decided to have one. Meanwhile, for the last 7 weeks I have been exercising her husbands hunters (he happens...

How to stop a horse biting

Thanks everyone - what 'pointy' object would you suggest? The trouble is - its not always my hands he bites, my arms and boobs are a particular favourite of his!!! He knows 'back' very well so will try that suggestion too. The 'I don't mind so much' was at the oral fixation thing he has for...

How to stop a horse biting

I am working with a seven year old Anglo Arab that insists on nipping/biting. He does it when being led in and out of the field, when he is stood still being groomed. He seems to forget when I am working him from the ground but goes straight back to it when we've finished. He grabs...

Welcome back to the HHO hunting forum ?!

My very first season hunting, luckily moved in next door to a seasoned hunting family - so started exercising their horses in August after 5 or 6 years off riding. Went last weekend was a 4pm start with their faithful old mare, who looked after me very well. This weekend is the slightly more...

Bringing a horse back into work.

He's been walking down the road tacked up for a while, he's very good in traffic and not at all nappy. He tests me out, and shows off - but expected of a 7 year old, with someone relatively new. Good idea with the mounting block, will try him out next week and see how it goes - thanks!

Bringing a horse back into work.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, think I just keep on with the lunging under the saddle for a couple more weeks? I'm not nervous about trying to get on him, and failing - I'm worried it will scare him off!

Bringing a horse back into work.

Hi All, Some advice needed: I have recently been asked to bring a 7 year old Anglo Arab back into work - he has not been ridden since last October. A little background - he was put out on loan at 4 just after being broken, the loan home pushed him too far too quickly and has scared him off -...
