Thanks all
Thanks...I've been experimenting with trying to make it release from the outside but had difficulty unscrewing even with light pressure on the bar...I'd only seen photos of others, assumed it was a thumbscrew but if it's a lever bar that makes more sense!
I've seen boxes...
hi
I'm wondering what the advantages are of having a collapsible breast bar that can be released from outside the box.
only thing I can imagine would be so you don't have to go in beside a panicky horse trying to release pins etc?
although if it gets to the stage that the bar needs...
Hi..
having never seen one I'm wondering how the breast bars that can be collapsed from the outside of the box work...
I've seen photos where there's definitely a bracket with some sort of release mechanism on one side (the ramp/near side on the ones I've seen) do they usually have the...
hadn't thought about the breast bar's use in a rear collision....definitely compromises with these boxes, doesn't seem to be an ideal type
which design type do you prefer Catroo?
thanks again
The Stallion Box design makes sense to me....it's not like there's any breast bar in bigger Herringbone boxes....but the Stallion boxes appear to make up a small percentage of 3.5 tonners
I'd have thought it's pretty unlikely the horse will ever use the breast bar as support...
hi
what is it you dislike about that one?
would you rather have no tack lockers in the horse area (just breast bar, with a small amount of wheel arch near the bulkhead) or do you mean something else?
I've seen this same design but with a shelf over the middle part, looks a bit...

Does the lower setting have any benefit?....since...
sounds like a pantomime...
I'd get it serviced, shouldn't cost much
could be the cable sticking inside the sleeve and not letting the brake shoes spring back like they should....if that's the problem you can sometimes push the cable back manually from the yoke (part where the 4 cables join to...
the no breast bar option is interesting, I can see the logic but it's very rare on all the boxes I've looked at to find one without a breast bar
there's always some amount of rearwards force (if anything is loose in car boot, trailer floor etc it always ends up at the back of the vehicle...
thanks for your reply, you sound happy with your van :) what was it that you liked about the rear opening partitions design?
thankyou...do you mean a frame surrounding the horse area or the construction of the full box?
Hi, I'm in the process of buildind /designing a 3.5t horsebox. GRP..Box van style
Would like to know peoples thoughts on breast bars and bulkheads.
If the box has a solid full height centre bulkhead (separating horse and grooms area) with tack/storage between the breast bar and bulkhead...
