    Stupid question - any reason I can't.....?

I tend to just use two turnout rugs rather than liners

    Winter is a cruel mistress

no real advice on anything that you could cover the hoof in, especially with it being so muddy. I'd probably just spray with iodine once its done. I had my horses in a clay field last year and my gelding blew an abscess, that I didn't even know he had, and it never caused him any further...

    Winter is a cruel mistress

OMG that sounds horrific, I feel for you! I really hope you can manage to treat the abscess successfully. makes me feel like my stress over keeping a abscess hole clean is nothing compared to what you're dealing with. sending positive vibes

Saddle fitting advice! Prolite Pad or Gel Pad???

it took me 6 different saddle fitters to find one that I trust, I've now found another that I also trust but there are so many out where that just didn't fit my boy properly! if your saddle is now slipping forwards, it would indicate that its not fitting properly, probably too tight! i would...

does it make a difference if its comes behind or towards him? is it a new thing or something that he's always done but has got worse recently? defo very scary, I'd also avoid hacking until you know what is causing it!

yeh same, my mare has 4 times to volume of feed compared to my gelding. there is a really good nutrition lady on FB who has posted a few times about needing to balance the calcium when feeding linseed. here's the link, she'll explain it way better than I can :) clare macleod msc rnutr...

    Terminology?

ah I see, haha! I'd probably just say, can you leave the rug over his bum so he doesn't get cold! I didn't realise it had its own name! I might say this to my sharer at the weekend, who is 19 and see if she knows what it means :')

    Feed advice please!

I feed my warmblood on thunderbrooks meadow nuts, linseed and add a handful of dengie healthy herbal to bulk it out as she's a pig and scoffs her food like she's never eaten before. I use the small top spec scoops about 300g. she gets 2 scoops of the nuts and 3/4 of a scoop of linseed, twice...

Bad catchers might be the most frustrating thing I’ve ever experienced

I've had my shetland for 14 years and could hardly catch him for 12 of those years! so I feel your pain! I used to have to coax him into the field shelter area and quickly close the gates, before he could leg it! then get him in to his favorite corner, scratch him on the butt then he'd let me...

Life after weight loss jabs ?

I suppose it depends what you do when you're on the jabs. do you use them as carrying on eating in the same poor way that got you overweight in the first place? or do you use them to help you creating new healthy eating habits! its the same with any diet! I've done WW and SW many times and...

    How old is your horse?

My gelding is 16 in May. He was diagnosed with hock spavin and pedal osteitis at 4. Had steroid injection once for the pedal osteitis at 4 and had his hocks fused at 5 and has been barefoot since 5 and has been fine with both issues since then. only issue since then is getting ulcers twice...
