Extreme girthiness - what could be wrong with him?

Another vote for ulcers here, there was a study I know of where about 98% of racers were found to have ulcers so I would put that to the top of the list of things to check for! Symptoms include agitation when girthed, reluctance to go forward, tail swishing, bucking, trouble maintaining weight...

This is not manipulated this is called ..You name it...

Some extreme bumpage here but I'm only just getting to watch this, and would very much like the opportunity to be as appalled as everyone else, but the link's not working - is it me, or is it not working for anyone else?! (I feel like one of those people who complained about Sachsgate after...

Had my Horse Communication Sesh last night...

It sounds like several of us on here booked our sessions on the back of the last thread, maybe she's just got a bad connection this week ;)

Would YOU pay £10,000 for a horse that weaves

I'm wondering which stud this is that's selling perfect horses for thousands to carefully vetted homes around the world... might put a cheeky tenner on the fact that William/Pippa Funnell had a day off, I always did think those Billy horses were too good to be true :p

Had my Horse Communication Sesh last night...

I used her too after recommendation on here. Same result, the stuff that was correct was for the most part pretty generic (15yo TB with some stiffness due to wear and tear...), but I was actually impressed by how much she got wrong - statistically she should have accidentally got some of it...

    Feed and exercise. Empty stomach?

This, to a certain extent! I guess competition horses tend to get competition mix, which they can't eat before they work, so in that sense the old idea is true, but mine always has lucerne and grass nuts to munch on while he's being tacked up, with high energy grass nuts if he's competing/having...

Do you feed your horses meat?

Yeah it should say on the bag, but I've never used A&P so wouldn't like to say what's in it! It's flippin complicated deciphering the feed bag labels though, at one point I'd have read 'calcium carbonate' and thought, brilliant that'll be good for the bones!... Until someone explained calcium...

Do you feed your horses meat?

Bear in mind vegetarians can eat dairy products, so being vegetarian certified doesn't necessarily mean there's nothing derived from animals in the feed

Do you feed your horses meat?

Simple System are to my knowledge the only horse feed company that's fully certified by the Vegan society. Food for thought... (<--- sorry, couldn't resist :p)

Cloning the horse of your dreams...

Good question!!! I think out of all mine I'll take my current horse, because I wish I'd had him from birth so that I could see how many of his problems were trained into him!! ANY horse I'd like to say Opposition Buzz purely for the joy of pinging round a 4*, but that means I've then got...

Corn or Sunflower or Veg or other,,,, What oil!!!!

They're all higher in omega 6 than omega 3, and omega 6 is a pro-inflammatory which should be avoided!! Go for linseed oil, it's higher in omega 3, which is anti-inflammatory and much better for the horse. It's more expensive but in this case you get what you pay for :)

Spider senses tingling, and not in a good way

I live with one, so yes :) at least once a week! Only time he's been tight recently is just behind the saddle, where I've been getting him to use his bum more

Spider senses tingling, and not in a good way

After a bit of advice/reassurance here really... I've posted more about this horse in CR and had some great advice which I'm definitely taking on board, but hoping for fresh eyes/perspective/whatever... He's a 15yo TB, had been eventing on and off for quite a few years now but never above...

The truth, the whole truth - barefoot footiness

Seriously?! If your horse kicked him and he broke his shoulder that's several weeks of earning a wage he's missed out on! If that's your attitude to him trying to protect his livelihood I'm not surprised no one wants to shoe your horse! OP I don't know what to suggest for your horses but...
