Hello!
Just wondering what people's experiences have been with getting a saddle for a youngster. My youngster is 3, he'll turn 4 this summer. He's part TB, part Selle Francais. I'm not quite sure how much growing he has left to do, he's still a few inches off his expected height, but he was...
My youngster is turning three this summer. I'm hoping to start doing a bit more with him this summer and start some of his ridden education. What would you recommend starting off with? There seem to be mixed views about lungeing vs. long reining? As far as tack goes, he has a little saddle that...
My mare was 13 and a maiden mare. It failed the first time, but it worked the second. The stallion I used for AI was about 20. I've now got a very happy and healthy colt! Good luck :)
I know the previous issue was caused by over-feeding possibly as the cartilage was growing too fast for the rest of the joint to keep up?
I didn't call the vet out, but I spoke to one. She recommended changing the bandage daily, and wiping the wound clean with hibiscrub. Its really difficult...
He's not lame at all on it tonight which is something...
He's just over 8 months old
He had an xray and temp checked 10d ago and vet was quite sure it was not bacterial. Just wondering if anyone has experience of this (can't remember exactly what the vet called it, fasciitis perhaps??) I've no...

4 days ago: vet checks knee, happy that foal is less lame, says knee will stay large for many months
Today: Notice knee...
YES there is!
My baby is apparently growing too fast, which has led to him being hugely lame, and with a huge knee...
He was advised box rest. The vet initially thought he might have done some serious internal damage to his knee, but after xrays, it turns out the cartilage is growing too...

Reading these posts made me laugh so much, especially you Nightjar!
1. My girl pulls THE worst faces at me
2. She put me in A&E with a potentially broken hand (her foal was teething and she was NOT a happy horsey)
3. Such a smart horse and so clever. Tells you exactly where to itch!
4. HUGE...
I'm not sure either, could have been! I'm just making as many horsey people as possible aware when a foal needs a mum or a mum has some milk going spare, and just hope there is a happy ending! :) :)
