I used to ride a horse who would sit down if something caught him of guard like tractors if they 'snook up' on him. Although I'm not sure if it was because of his long epic tail getting in the way of his prancing about and him standing on it. We have trimmed his tail since but he still does it abit.
MrsD123 yes he scoffs his straw, even which jeys fluid liberally applied to it. I'm not sure if she tried anything else with him but the yard she's on only allows straw bedding. He does have matts and some one goes to see him at least twice a day. Oh he also has lami and is on a strict diet.
My dad panics if I ask to put a horse in with his precious cows. He's always worried that the horse might kick or chase them as he's seen in the past when the neighbouring farmers have put horses in with their heard!
I have to put mine I the field next to the cows until they've had a good look...
The riding school I worked for has metal ring feeders in their fields! Although After a while, when the fields turn muddy, the horses would always be up to their belly's in the 'moat' of sludge around them which was a pain for getting hem clean again!
My dad's a farmer and he removes a couple of people's muck heaps for them. He charges them £20 an hour. One has their own tipper trailer which he picks up and empties then takes it back.
