Our club does the same as Britestars now. I was surprised at how high the fee is, especially as no prize money, it made a qualifier twice the price of a BS class at the same venue :(
Good luck on remeasuring. It's years since I had to get anything measured but have seen all sorts done to get them under.
One thing you can try to SEE if you have a hope of the pony measuring is dope it and measure it. The ultra relaxed pony will then measure at the lowest it's possible for it...
Had a K2 jump and loved it, was like sitting in an arm chair and felt super secure... BUT... my leg position in it was awful, it really seemed to encourage my leg to swing back and I'd end up pitched forward. Have a cheapy John Whitaker on one horse and a Devoucoux monoflap on the other now...
With regards to when do they stop looking big - usually when you're ready to move up a level ;)
With your mare being a little rude, I'd be trying the jump and stop exercise. So single fence in the arena, jump it, land and stop in a straightline within 3 strides - it won't happen the first...
We put one of our Standardbred mare's twice to Dirk's Orion after we'd bred a couple of straight standies from her. They were lovely and made decent eventers.
Sadly I think many people think trotter = road racing, and don't realise that over here it's mostly pacers and that they race under rules as despite the best efforts of the team at BHRC and STAGBI it doesn't get much recognition outside of S4C :(
Can't say that we ever had to batter any to go...
Sable Matters has bred some seriously useful horses :) We had standies for about 15 years but have gone back to showjumping these days :) All of ours went on to "useful" jobs after racing. They make great endurance horses - will "jog" for hours at a consistent pace and are tough as you like...
I think it's Tuesday's at the RWB site. We've used Potter's before and probably will again but the horse goes and is done that day. That site doesn't have the best rep - while it was still owned by Drury's at least one worker died in an avoidable accident :( They need to be squeaky clean and...
My trainer is a 10 minute hack away, we walk/trot on the way there and walk on the way home. Works well and means lesson time can be more concentrated.
