Uk riding holidays with a choice of own horse or hire?

Stonetrail in Cumbria, might be a bit over two hours depending what side of Manchester you are but they have horses on site and also facilities to bring your own. Haven't been but a few friends have and enjoyed it.

What time do you do the horses in the morning?

I'm normally at the yard for 6.15am on a weekday but there is usually another owner who gets there just before 6am so she's normally fed everyone. On odd days if she's not working and comes a bit later I feed them all and then turn my two out. I aim to be leaving the yard about 7.10am to go home...

    Self-guided Horse Trail in Scotland

If you've not got your heart set on the Highlands then have a look at www.ridescottishborders.com it's great riding country, very horse friendly and really good routes. If you get in touch with the team at Ride Scottish Borders they can put you in touch with a couple of horse hire options in the...

Anyone tow with a Peugeot 508 estate?

Looking at one for sale, tow capacity is 1790 so should be capable for what I want. Looking for reviews from anyone who has one, what is like as a tow car and for general use?

What to do with food cat wont eat anymore

Our local cats protection have collection bins in a couple of supermarkets in the area - is there something like that near you? Then you can just drop it in at your convenience rather than trying to make arrangements.

Van conversion - following the very slow process

Found a pic of the partition opening in mine and you can see the cupboard behind for info, the opening was much wider than anything I've seen on any other conversion so really useful for access for me in and out.

Van conversion - following the very slow process

My van conversion had tie points on both sides, I only ever used the one next to the ramp! Mainly because there was usually always space there as vehicles see the ramp and leave you room (most of the time) and I found it easier to nip up and down the ramp to grab stuff from the back when getting...

How often do you use your lorry....

I sold my 3.5t at the start of the year because I was only using it around once a month and was struggling to justify the cost of keeping it (although I could afford it, it seemed a waste). I was also struggling to find the time to take it out for regular runs so was starting to get issues with...

    Winter Events

You don't have to jump in Trec, one of the best things about it is you can miss out any obstacles you don't want to do. You just get scored for the ones you complete and 0 for the ones you don't. I don't jump but really enjoy Trec. There is often in hand trec in winter too which adds a new...

    Win a pony....

I got through to the Your Horse Win a Horse final 10 (or was it 12?) a few years ago and did the assessment day. I didn't win but really enjoyed the experience.

    Buccleuch Country Ride

I haven't done it but recently did the Hawick riding route and found the waymarking to be excellent, maps almost not required. The person to ask would be the lady who runs the Ride Scottish Borders Facebook page, it's a project developing routes and accommodation for horses and riders. She would...

    Vet Call Out Charge

I've just had to look back at some bills cos I had no idea what ours is. Mostly we arrange shared visits as there is usually someone else on the yard needing something, thta's billed at £16, the last bill I can find with a full visit charge is £20.50 which I'm a bit surprised about as I...
