    Showing advice!

Hi. I'm looking to take my youngster out to a local show in a couple of weeks. I'm going to enter her in the ridden sports horse class but I'm not sure how to turn us both out and also what I am expected to show in our individual show. Im only doing it for her experience as showing isn't...

    Pedal bone fracture - bedding?

Hey, Having recently been through this with my horse when she fractured the right wing of her pedal bone I can highly recommend Hemcore/Aubiose. I found it very supportive for my horse. She has made a full recovery so fingers crossed for Jack! :)

    Jester is hurt....really scared :(

Hi, If you think it is in his foot, then have you considered nerve blocks? I had this with my horse, she was practically on 3 legs, it blocked to her foot, so we poulticed and treated as an abcess, and if no better, then we xrayed. It was in her foot, and turned out to be a fractured pedal bone...

    Cat wont accept kitten back

I can understand what you are going through. I had this with my cats when one of them came back from the vets after being neutered. I didnt treat them any differently, and luckily have a big enough house to let them just get on with it without me interfering. They are much better now, and pretty...

In hand work - where to start?

I started doing some inhand work with my youngster with a view to building up the correct muscles before I get on her next year. I started with turn on the forehand, getting her to move away from pressure on her side, then gradually started doing this at walk. I was really only looking for her...

Coping with a horse on box rest/Starting to walk out in hand....

Well, we werent able to xray her as the sedative didnt go under her tongue, and she is massively needle shy. So I had to turn her out in the outdoor school for the vet to look at. We decided she was sound, and she has been out in the field during the days since. Now she is out, Im able to walk...

Coping with a horse on box rest/Starting to walk out in hand....

So.. my 3 year old has been in the stable now for just over 3 months, and to put it mildly is a little bit fresh. Feed wise, she is getting nothing but fast fibre, molasses free alfa a, supplements and hay. She is already on calming herbs, and doesnt react at all the sedalin. The vet is out to...

    Pedal bone fracture (wing)

My 3 year old did this. I think she did it when she was leaping around to avoid the vet for her jabs. She was a bit lame the next day, then hopping lame, then got better, then got a lot worse. It showed up as a fracture of the right wing, she is now in straight shoes on that foot, completed 6...

    Tentatively horse hunting- HELP!

I really like the look of the first horse. I know in the first video, he isnt very steady in his head carriage, but if you look on YouTube at the most recent one that was put up this month, he looks like he has matured loads, and has come on leaps and bounds. The chestnut for me, im put off by...

Barefoot people - how many self-trim?

I trim mine, but I also occasionally send pics to my most local trimmer for him to advise. However, its all gone out the window at the moment, as she has a fractured pedal bone, and needs to have shoes on until this has healed. Oh well!
