Livery yards/stables to rent in the Gower

Thanks missmac. We've decided we want to live in the Gower area. I work flexi hours so I tend to do 7.30-1.30. I'm hoping the traffic won't be too bad that early in the morning.

Livery yards/stables to rent in the Gower

Thanks but 10 minutes on a busy road is out as mine is a ****** for spinning just as cars are passing. I've found what looks like a nice one. I'm going to see it this wkend. It's a bit far - 14 miles from my (hopefully!) new office in SA7 but I don't know Wales at all so maybe that is normal...

    Yards in the Gower, Wales

Hello. This is not related to competing or training but the forum has changed a lot since I last came on in October. I posted this on the Wales thread but I thought there may be some folk in here that used to live in Wales that may be able to help:- I'm moving to Swansea in the near future...

Livery yards/stables to rent in the Gower

Hello Welsh peeps. I'm moving to Swansea in the near future and am bringing my horse with me. Does anyone know of DIY yards or farms in the Gower area that have traditional outdoor type stables please? My 16.1 BWB SJ gelding has had COPD/RAO for 8 years and needs to be able to get his head...

*Videos* In need of some CC. both dressage and SJ, please.

Training video at SRC - I don't think the canter is too slow, in fact she is rushing sometimes. But the canter is a bit mincey and not forwards. I also think she is taking the pee out of you big time - she could do those from a walk, she is being a naughty pants, but you are hanging on her...

XC rounds how many is acceptable?

I've never been in more than once and nor would I. But it does seem to happen more these days - 1 girl I regularly see does (and wins) the unaff 85cm, the 90cm Amateur and the BN at my local BSJA show. That's different from XC of course but I certainly wouldn't do more than 2 classes SJ...

    Dressage/eventing people - Training contact - competition contact - Q

Ok, I stand well and truly corrected. Humble apologies for being a Doubting Thomas! I was lucky enough to have a lesson this morning with a dressage judge. Lots of loves/hates occurred... She loves the mare (of course - I did say she is a babe). Said she has very nice paces and a big...

    Dressage tips

Ok :o I have to ask - what is a good half-halt? Yes yes I know I should know. I do it by putting the inside leg on and tweaking the outside rein quite firmly whilst sitting to the trot. An "Oi, hello listen" type thing. My one and only dressage lesson trainer said I had a sh%t half-halt...

Well, you lot have been having fun with this haven't you? :D I've tried the more, light contact and she just doesn't go as well. It's really difficult not to school her with the loose rein because she does such big, powerful, soft work that is wonderful to sit on that anything else just...

Fell off today, nerve has gone a bit? Best ways to get it back?

Oh no, what a bummer. I'd try and do whatever it takes to fit in another xc schooling session before your event, if at all possible. I remember going over a tiny cross-pole for the first time after breaking my ankle and the strides up to it were terrifying. But as soon as I'd done it, I...

    Dressage/eventing people - Training contact - competition contact - Q

Thank you both. I'm wondering now whether it's less to do with the baggy reins and more to do with me being more upright, relaxed and more and longer legs on that does the trick because I tried this with my own horse tonight after posting on here but with more of a contact (we were in a big...

    Dressage/eventing people - Training contact - competition contact - Q

Hello, could you give me some advice please? I've done very little dressage and have been given the ride on the most fabulous little mare to event/dressage. She's only ever show-jumped but is very quick to learn. My horse went lame last week and I borrowed her for a ODE (her first ever)...
