Hi, Ive just had the same dilema with my 25 year old, also with cushings. Although my vet wanted to take her to the clinic, I did manage to get the vet to carry tests out at home.
The lump doesn't sound too bad at the moment, but the stress in a cushings horse could trigger even worse...
Hi all, my mare has just been diagnosed with a tumour in her nostril. As a result of this she cannot manage to chew and swallow haylage, so I want to feed her molichop, which she eats with no problems. The problem I have is that she bolts it down in one go. Any ideas how I can trickle feed it...
Thanks everyone, I've had her in isolation from the first sign she was unwell. The vet came to see her monday morning, she's on 10 day course of antibiotics. And had a nasal swob(which resulted in me being thrown the stable) results due back 6-10 days. She is much improved now, hardly any...
I hope thats all it is, i've got some antibiotics but the vet said to hold off until she is satisfied it's not strangles, although she's had no contact with other horses so i can't see how it could be.

Hello, my horse has suspected chushings disease. Has anybody had treatment for chushings? How sucessful is the treatment? Does it stop a horse with cushings from getting laminitis??? What symptoms have they had? Thanks
Thanks very much for all your replies! The infection seem's much better today, but will get the vet if it flares up again. Nice to hear she's not the only mare producing milk for no apparent reason, as normally when i mention it to people they've never heard of it before, even the vets seem a...
Hello, new to this site and really need some help!
My 23 yr old mare has produced milk for at least 12 years probably longer, i've always stripped it off her once or twice a week as otherwise she gets mastitis. But in feb this year the vet injected her teats with long lasting intibiotics in the...
