I have a 22 yr old and a 19yr old and currently have them both on Global Herbs Old Age powder. 22yr old sometimes suffers with slight stiffness in hocks and 19yr old stiffness in shoulders, both of which seem much improved on this stuff.
I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have ridden through out, however only my own horse and "taking it easy". I was advised to be sensible and keep going by my midwife
Said mare is bare foot - she has the best feet that any of my horses have had!! She has always had good feet saying that but if the feed agrees with them it is always a contributory factor.
if it works for you and your horse why change it? I certainly shall be leaving mine well alone unless...
I had never used it until my older cob needed her weight more closely monitored. she is in 24/7 in the winter, she can have a scoop of Happy Hoof twice a day and not only is she "happy" as it seems to fill her up, but its kept her weight down.
Like all feeds though, what works for one may not...
I rug my foals, largely because mine are in a lot in the winter and stood about in their boxes tend to get a bit chilly. I also think it helps keep condition on so you get the max out of their growth. My opinion, I know others will have theirs. I would make sure you buy ones that "almost" fit...
I have a 22yr old and 19yr old - both looked a little stiff last autumn. I have had them both on Global Herbs "Old Age" - I swear by it - they are both looking fab now, 22yr old still bombing round hunter trials and out hunting. You have to feed quite a high loading dose, but they are now both...
Ah - different ball game then! Only thing I can suggest is completely ignoring it (don't even tell him off), and it will take ages! It's like a child having a tantrum, any attention even negative is a win to them. I stand mine on a rubber mat so I can't hear him moving about.......helps my...
Why do you think he does it? Anxiety or attention seeking?
One of mine "fidgits" constantly - drives me round the bend but I know its anxiety - he has a haynet, which is enough to take his mind off it. I know its a cheat but I would rather know he was relaxed than Mr Stressy pants!
Pads sometimes "mask" the problem - like someone else has said, they allow bacteria to grow underneath and you cant see whats going on. Difficult if thats what your farrier has recommended. Maybe seek a second opinion? Or consider what you have lost if you try without - you can always go back to...
When my part bred TB arrived he had pads on his hinds - awful soft feet underneath, but I was told he was crippled with out them. One day with the guidence of my farrier we decided "sod it" and took off the pad, stuck him on Farriers Forumla and used Keratex. Never looked back.
Remember the...
I have seen this once before, we had a horse on a yard I was working in called Percy who at every chance would "hang" his tongue out the side of his mouth - he was a bit odd!! Used to love to have it stroked.
Exactly what I was looking for last year - bought a foal out of a very similar mare to yours by Cressingham National Silver (ID) - he is now about 17 months and looking very promising. Went a met stallion, lovely temperment too.
