Letter of the week in this weeks H&H

I do! I don't understand why Suddes had to shoehorn in her rude comment about dressage - the article she was referring to was about showjumping and, as I remember, it repeatedly questioned how SJ could learn from dressage's recent boom in popularity. I think her main point was about the poor...

Letter of the week in this weeks H&H

As a dressage rider I found the letter offensive especially as it appears to have been written by the Northern Region RDO for the BHS!!! I actually considered making a complaint to them. I'm amazed it was awarded "Letter of the Week" - I thought it read like a drunken rant!

Dressage with natives & an intro

I remember watching Laura Fry with him when I was first starting out with my Welsh C - I loved him and it was so inspiring! My pony and I are now dipping our toes in BD medium and see loads of other natives out and about :)

    Just a musing.....

It would upset me but I would try not to let it show. Maybe ask her why she thinks he's stupid, then perhaps in saying her (presumably) lame justification out loud it will make her realise how lame it really is or maybe it will help you understand *why* she thinks it... But I think no matter...

    Security hiccup at WEG stables

Oh dear, that's not good. I would expect that they have CCTV in operation? Then again, the website has been so shocking maybe technology is not their strong point! Don't some of the grooms stay with the horses at all times? I remember seeing on a video on Horse Hero that Laura B's groom...

    Showing people-shiny hoof oil???

Another vote for the Absorbine Supershine, it comes with an applicator attached to the lid which really helps with keeping mess to a minimum - if you get another type then a tip is to smear some vaseline or similar around the lid to stop it from sticking!

Showing a Welsh D yearling colt. White halter or bridle?

Quite a few welsh yearling colts are shown in bridles but they're not compulsory until 2yo (for colts only) so do whatever you prefer :)

'John Terry's wife Toni gets England call-up'...

I have no issue with what she's doing with her horses (good on her for actually getting on and doing it rather than just talking about it!) but I do judge her negatively for how misleading the interview was in OK magazine (which is where the DM have their material), it truly read as though she's...

At 12:10 a filly was born

Congratulations!!! Hope all is well. Well done Gin for popping out a stunner and well done you for trusting your instincts! (Finally noticed your pm - not used to the new site, I clearly could do with "YOU HAVE A MESSAGE TO READ YOU IDIOT" flashing at me in huge letters!)

How do you encourage your horse to drink at competitions?

I too have just tried horse quencher, I got it specifically to encourage my pony to drink on long journeys as she usually refuses and it worked! My girl has yet to finish a whole bucket and often plays around with it in her eagerness to get the bits but she drinks some every time she's offered...

BD Northern Dressage Forum - Report

I really wanted to go to this but it was too far away for me to make it on a weekday evening so thanks for the report - sounds like it was a good event :)

Showing Welsh Sec A? HEELLPPPP :O

As above but you walk away from the judge in a straight line, turn (away from you) and then trot back straight towards and past the judge (don't worry they'll move!). Also when you're lined up after the judge's initial look you may be asked to line up in order so keep an eye on what the judge...

    Question - All Dressage Riders

I agree with those who have said that though it wouldn't bother my horse it would bother me - it's bad enough trying to negotiate other people in the warm-up without jumps as well and they do usually spoil your lines if you're riding particular movements. It would have to be a pretty special...

Manor Grange BD cancelled - anyone know why?

It is a shame but I believe them when they say it's because of the unpredictability of the weather (see times for this weekend, there's a message). The comps at the start of Feb could easily have to be cancelled due to weather or entries could be down because people have missed so much training...
