i need to hear good things about big horses, 17hh+

I love horsey generalisations they really make me laugh. I own a 17hh part bred Arab - would certainly not be every ones cup of tea lol!! Complete money pit but came out the other side, a horse I really enjoy and am obsessed with, who has taught me the most in my horsey career so far. He is...

    BRC Area Dressage Qualifier Report

Sadly the only other things I've seen on are indoor carriage driving (do that with the Shetland) or show jumping and that is a defo no! But I will keep an eye open as it would be good to do.

    BRC Area Dressage Qualifier Report

I think perhaps I'd added pressure in wanting to better our last attempt, he has been going super and I thought the silly warm up behaviour was well behind us. My friend who came with me is actually also my instructor and she hasn't seen him at a competition since that first qualifier so I...

    BRC Area Dressage Qualifier Report

This is real life folks, always happy to report the good, the bad and the ugly... 10 months ago we attended this same qualifier. We only managed our intro test on the basis death felt a little too close for comfort and I do take the opinion of quitting whilst ahead... Roll on Sunday for...

    Mid-November weekend plans

Off to riding club novice dressage qualifier tomorrow. Intro to warm up with then prelim. We attended this last time and only managed the intro as by that point I hadn't died so quit whilst I was ahead...aim is to complete them both this time! It's the warm up that can cause the issue but he has...

    Season round up

Another cracking year I'd say! Albeit not possibly in the way you were expecting! Each horse we have always becomes special, how lovely you have Lottie, can't beat a dark bay with an orange muzzle :)

    It happened again.

It's such a tricky one! I've been on quite the journey with my gelding and won't bore you with the details but he is ultra sensitive, a complete kronk and I know him inside out so know when something is up. However there a few points that I think would be worth considering so here is my 10 pence...

    Winter motivation needed

Lots of good online dressage companies out there. I do mine with Dressage Online, real variety of classes, either BD tests or their own. They also have a long reining/lunging class so can mix it up a bit if needs be.

    Winter motivation needed

Apparently I'm a bit annoying as I'm a really motivated person lol and people think I'm a bit bonkers. If I'm honest some of it is the fact my horse has got the potential to 'break down' again so I kind of look at it as I have to make the most of it whilst we're up and running. I really enjoy...

    My horse hates water…

That's the trick that worked with mine. She wouldn't do it whilst I was mounted but on foot I simply reversed her in. It wasn't every water just certain ones but once cracked we never had an issue again. I also then hopped on when we were in to walk and splash about. She flatly refused to follow...

    Associated Champs Report

What day were you there? We were Sunday so things had started to dry out a bit but there was one part of the outdoor still well covered with water. It must be a nightmare when the weather is bad, a friend posted pics from Arena UK and that looked insane. I'm lucky Harn is chestnut, I 'd be so...

    Associated Champs Report

This is our first season competing BD, starting at the start at prelim. It took a while to even hit a 60% score, thanks to my rather quirky, kronky horse lol but we made it to summer areas and we made it to the Associated Champs in the part bred Arab section which was a goal of mine. I know some...

Goals, ambitions, objectives - call them what you will, but do you have any and what are they?

It's such a personal thing. I get told often how driven I am as I'm always busy doing something lol, whether it's competing or just riding regularly. I think it really depends on what you actually want, do you want some pretty rosettes? or just hacking with your mates? Personally I set myself...

    Small pony in trailer

I cross tie my shetland in my ifor 510 by having string on the lower breast brackets, so he's still stood like a I would travel my big guy but with no breast bar.
