    clipping before intradermal skin tests

Hi everyone, my horse is going to be having intradermal skin tests soon for ongoing allergy problems. I know that the area will need clipping before but I just wondered if anyone else's horse has had these and were they just clipped on the day of the tests or did they need doing on an earlier...

    Homeopathic vets

Hi everyone, I am trying to find a homeopathic vet who will do telephone appointments (well I don't mind if they want to visit as well but I live in Anglesey and think I might struggle to find someone to travel but any recommendations would be appreciated!) and wondered if anybody has any...

Anyone found the perfect rug for keeping as natural as possible?

Thanks very much for all the replies. It seems like a quick brush with a rubber curry comb or something would be OK then and perhaps I'm over-worrying about the natural oils! She gets linseed in her diet already and although I know good for the skin I hadn't thought of it helping with the...

Anyone found the perfect rug for keeping as natural as possible?

Hi everyone, Not sure if I'm going to be able to find what I'm looking for but worth asking if anyone has any ideas! I recently ordered a cool heat rug for my horse which I thought was going to be the answer but my mum looks after my horse and has a bad back and this rug was just far too heavy...

Best fly mask for nervous horse with good UV protection

Thanks for checking that for me! I think I'll go for the equilibrium then - have emailed them aswell to see what they would advise. In theory if I went for the midi without ears we should be able to attach the sun visor mentioned above to it without needing a headcollar, to give extra...

Best fly mask for nervous horse with good UV protection

We were thinking of trying that but unfortunately she will hardly ever be caught since its been on - just going towards her is making her jumpy and she won't even have the lead rope put around her neck in the field. Her eyes look a bit 'wild' when its taken off aswell so just feel really bad on...

Best fly mask for nervous horse with good UV protection

Thanks for the reply - please can I ask you if you think the vision is better through the equilibrium with the 70% UV protection compared to the 80% one or do you think they're pretty much the same vision wise?

Best fly mask for nervous horse with good UV protection

Thanks very much for the replies. The sun shade actually looks quite good but I wonder if it would be enough for what she needs. Could be worth a try though. Has anyone used these? Just wondered if anyone had any other suggestions aswell and if anyone knows what the vision is like through the...

Best fly mask for nervous horse with good UV protection

Please could anyone let me know if you have any recommendations for a fly mask for a nervous girl? She has been having problems with headshaking this summer along with swollen runny eyes and rubbing her nose (rubbed the fur away in lots of places - I read this was probably due to pain in the...

does sedation affect the results of skin allergy tests?

Thanks ann- jen, just wondering if anyone has had the intradermal skin tests on horses without sedation? Just read an article that made it sound like all horses are sedated for it so now I'm hoping its OK, maybe they can only use a certain sedative or dose though.x

does sedation affect the results of skin allergy tests?

Thanks for the replies. I've just got her on a really basic diet now of just chop, dried grass, speedibeet and linseed with progressive earth probalance. I've tried eliminating all of those things aswell to see if that helps but no luck although if we add anything like cubes, alfalfa she does...

does sedation affect the results of skin allergy tests?

Thanks so much for your reply. That is really helpful, the equifeast fightback is meant to boost the immune system so maybe in fact is making her worse. These things always sound great when you read the reviews and I thought it would do the trick from the feedback but hasn't made a difference...

does sedation affect the results of skin allergy tests?

Hi everyone, I just wondered if anyone knew this? The vet is looking into my horse having skin allergy tests and also whether sedation would affect the results as it would be impossible to do her without sedation. I'm just desperate to find out if it will as coming to the end of things to try...
