    Kennel Club Lab breeders

I looked up Labrador breeders on the kennel club website and found several local to me. I emailed 5 expressing an interest in getting a black lab bitch puppy sometime over the next few months but didn't get an replies. Any idea if it's not the right way to contact breeders? I'm just surprised no...

    Clipping And The Human Face

I've not tried it but someone suggested baby powder. Wipes etc will make the skin damp and the hairs will stick. The idea behind baby powder is that it is dry and easier to brush the hairs off.

    Arenas

There are videos and photos of my 20x40 arena on my fb page and there are probably construction photos too. If not on my page then on my personal FB. https://www.facebook.com/SJSDressage/

Has anyone had a horsebox built?

I had my two horse 7t box built by Peper Harow Horseboxes in Surrey. I have a two horse side load with decent living but no toilet/bathroom. They do a similar layout with rear load/herringbone so worth a look. My build inc living was just over £20k.

Area Festival Second Round Call Up

Hi. I went to Oldencraig for the ele bronze yesterday. Lovely venue but no stewards at all so no one telling you when to go to the arena from warm up etc. Only two judges in my class which was also disappointing. Anyway I'd not ridden for two weeks as I've had a bad chest infection so was on a...

Riding and yard duties with a PICC line

Thank you. I've been struggling with the long term effects of SJS for years and it doesn't get any easier. I've managed to get out competing this year but it's a huge struggle and I spend far more time laid up than I do riding etc. I'm not able to work so can focus all my energy on short rides...

Riding and yard duties with a PICC line

I've had several PICC lines in and probably due to have another soon. The longest I've had one in for was 22 months so I had to get on with things and do the horses and ride with it in. I make sure I have plenty of dressings and extra comfifast so I can change anything that gets dirty at the...

    Hacking Issues - Spooking/Spinning

I've been having this issue with my mare and have been really struggling. She started it in the warm up at dressage when she got scared by someone riding straight at her. She does it if anyone comes too close from the front but is fine from behind. Then it started on the road if a big truck...

    Small horseboxes - bulkhead - safety ?

When I was looking at 3.5t - 4.5t every company I spoke to said they were the only one who reinforced the bulkhead but at the same time they all had living and reasonable payloads so I wasn't convinced. I ended up going for a 6.5t forward facing with living between horses and cab. The other...

    Exercises To stabilise lower leg

I have the same problem and find yoga helps and I have some specific hip exercises from my physio. If you google hip exercises things like bridge, knee drops and quad stretches can help. I use You Tube for yoga sessions. I also have a spooky horse so not comfortable riding without stirrups so...

    Riding arthritic horses...

Mine is out full time, on Bute during cold wet weather as she looks a bit sore when the ground is frozen or if she gets wet and cold. I haven't ridden her over winter but will ease off the Bute as it warms up and start gentle hacking to see how she is. Living out made a huge difference to her...

Question re deep littering wood pellets with shavings?

I use a pellet base with shavings on top. I tried replacing wet patches with dry pellets with shavings over the top but it didn't work very well so I soak them in a barrow then refill the holes where the wet was with soaked pellets. I don't use a lot of water to soak them but I find if I water...

How do you manage your pellet beds?

I use pellets and shavings on top of rubber mats as my horses all prefer pellet beds but I prefer shavings. I like really big banks so make most of the banks and base with pellets. Then I add shavings on top of the pellets to bulk up the banks and make the bed nicer. I then throw the shavings up...

BD - When to try next level up ?

I'm pleased I read this. I don't have any BD points and have only done one unaff prelim and one novice on my horse but I'm hoping to start at medium this year. I have problems with my lungs and struggle to get through a test without running out of breath. The walk work in mediums is longer so...
