I did this a couple opf years ago and have saved a fortune. I have 4 with very different needs and all are fed on the following in different ratios. Unmollasssed sugarbeet (even kwic and speedi are economical). Grass nuts, feed shops own brand. Homemade chaff 50/50 hay & straw (£35 chaff...
All sounds a bit fishy. A new saddle, ie one that has been on display and not used may need flocking adjusting as it settles through use but shouldn't need total reflocking. I would only use a qualified saddle fitter, I know that's no guarantee these days but at least it gives you a fighting...
Looks a funny thing at the moment, would love to see him in a few years. We went and looked at a 5 year old punch x sec D once, he was heavy weight hunter/ maxi cob sort, absolutely stunning, shame he got the sec d temp rather than the punch.
I have overalls that I wear to save my work clothes in the mornings and I only ever wear my hair in a tight scraped back pony tail/bun. You could make up feeds and put them in the large zip lock bags to keep them fresh. Do away with hay nets and have a hay bar or feed on the ground.
I agree with you OP, so I must be heartless too. I know Hillside do some good work and have good intentions, but in other ways I don't agree with them at all. For example you cannot rehome a dog if you are going to use it for gun sport or any form of hunting! The lady who runs it is well know...
None of mine will eat beetroot. My daughters old grey loved it when we threw her any old or woody beets, she would look like she had deep burgundy lipstick on.
Hacking, endurance, le trec, Circus performers, vaulting, I am sure I saw an article where a minature was being used as a guide pony, therapy (PAT animals and other sorts of mental health therapy), breeding, showing, land management (some native breeds are bing used to maintains SSSI's), blood...
My daughters 3/4 ID is just a number on his passport. I like Patch for a stable name, very Old School. For a posh name I like Apache Princess. How about Cabbage Patch Kid, Cross Patch, Patch it up, Pumpkin Patch, Pitch Patch Pepper (old skipping ryme), Patchwork. That way ypou are not...
I usually live in harmony with wildlife, but I swear they have it in for me. My poor little pony has been going round the arena like a spring just waiting for the next boggart to leap out at him!
Any one else fed up with wild life? The fileld next to my arena is the only one around now with standing corn so home to every dear in the area. I have swallows in the stables. I wouldn't mind if they just pooed under their nest but every surface is covered so the whole lot will need pressure...
Agree, I have had 2 years of 3 monthly (min) saddle checks as my lad has lost weight, grown and now appears to be developing muscle. Its expensive, but much less expensive than getting it wrong.
Tried one recently on my cob when he had outgrown his made to measure hoop tree, fitted him quite well but not me, I found I was tipped forward very slightly, but my lad is very flat backed and bum high. We went for an ideal which offered the best fit for both of us. My criticism was that is...
