    Solar stable lights

Looking for recommendations for decent, bright, and functional solar stable lights. I need to light three stables, and one or two outside lights, preferably with individual light switches so that the lights are not all on at the same time. If anyone on the forum has done this, can you please...

Friesian Owners - advice for new horse please

Friesians like rules to follow. When my now 9 year old arrived as a large bolshy three year old he had no manners, simply because he hadnt been taught. Whoever said Friesians aren't intelligent has obviously never owned one, they are the most intelligent horses I have ever had! It only took a...

anyone have two horses in separate livery yards?

I have had two horses on separate yards. I would never, ever do it again. Its just appalling. These yards were only four miles apart, but it was sooooo depressing, particularly in the winter months.

    Stifle op...opinions plz.

Before you go down the op route, have a look at Scenar treatment (look up Jill Hick Equine Scenar on Facebook). My horse had a very bad locking stifle problem, had some Scenar treatment, and has had NO further problems with the stifle. Definitely worth a look before you spend a lot on invasive...

Large yards - how to cope with the difficult ones!

I go to my (large) yard to relax, de-stress from my at times very intense and stressful work life, and enjoy my horse. I don't go there to socialise, I have friends I socialise with outside of my riding time. My time with my horse is very precious to me. I don't speak to everyone at my yard, I...

How to survive a livery yard!

Smile and be polite. Ignore all gratuitous advice with a smile and a pleasant "Thank You!" If the gratuitous advice keeps on coming, use an ipod and headphones. Say "No" to things you don't want to do and stick to it. Enjoy it - you never know, they might be the friendliest bunch of people...

    Stable bankings

Each to their own. I prefer to "store clean bedding" in the plastic bale it came in, and put a fresh bale in once a week! My stables are immaculate, so I guess it must work.

    Stable bankings

I don't have them at all for either of mine, they are both on shavings beds and rubber matting. In order to be any good as an anti-cast measure, the banks have to be phenomenally large, and I would rather they had more room in their stables than a few square inches to stand in! I have never have...

    WWYD saddle dilemma !

I would stop using it, send her a registered letter saying that her saddle is ready for collection, and is now at her own risk eg you are no longer insuring it. Then source the saddle from somewhere else.

    Livery Yard Rules

Gosh, what a judgemental lot some of you are! The OP has raised a genuine concern. She hasn't stated she is nervous/novice, or otherwise incapable, she has raised a very valid point about handling other peoples horses, and the potential for things to go wrong. It is a "rule" at my yard...
