Most native types would have no problem living out with this clip. My mare has a similar clip and is only rugged if the weather is particularly foul or really cold. :)

Completely agree with the above comment - I was in the same situation myself a few years ago. Nervous horse + nervous rider is not a happy combination for either of you.
