Does anyone know of any B&Bs in the Midlands where you can take horses? I live in Surrey and my friend lives in Pontefract and we would like to meet half way with the horses, i.e. somewhere in Northamptonshire / Leicestershire.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated as having...
Don't know what car to purchase and considering this although thinking it may be a bit small - max towing capacity is only 2800kgs and thinking I should go with something a bit tougher?
Any suggestions / thoughts?
Thanks,
Louise
Hi all,
I'm trying to decide on what vehicle to buy with a view to also purchasing a trailer? I would like it to hold 2 500kgs horses. So towing weight would be c.2000kgs. I have been looking at the Kia Sorento which has a maxiumum towing weight of 2500kg so looks like a good option. However...
Can't believe how many replies I've had - thanks everyone!
He's not on any painkillers at the moment and as someone pointed out, I think you can tell when they're in pain if you know your horse well enough and I really don't think he is!
Thing is though is that I really only have enough...
Hi everyone,
I had very bad news about 6 months ago that my 4yr old TBX had osteoporosis of his front LF sesamoid bone and would not be rideable. Vet advised to PTS as he would never get better, and his lameness would only get worse with time.
He's been living out in the field quite...
Thanks so much for your reply, really good to know someone else out there with the same problem. Unfortunately I'm not covered by the insurance so that's also an issue - I just had BHS gold cover until he got a bit older and I started riding him properly when I planned to get proper insurance...
Hi,
Ive got a 4yr old TBX who has been slightly lame for the best part of 18 months now. After extensive x-rays and scans which resulted in no conclusive results, I had an MRI scan done which has now shown up that he had bone damage to his sesamoid bone, just behind the fetlock joint. I...
Just wondering if my youngster's lameness is due to a splint forming although he's been lame for a good few months now. What's the longest anyone has experienced lameness for a splint before?
Thanks
Very good idea. Mine is now almost 4 and took him out on the road in hand from about 2. Gives them great experience. Rather than taking another horse I often got another human to walk with me and help slow down any traffic if they weren't being very understandable.
I also bought a hi-vis saying...
Spoke to vet again who said next stage would be MRI - likely to be approx. £1k. Insurers supposdly cover but I'm with e&l and after a quick google search am slightly worried as it's full of terrible stories about them and how they don't pay out for anything! Great!
I feel for you, know exactly what you're going through! What have you had done so far at vets? I think I am going to turn him away for a while longer. He's already been turned out since August though and no improvement. How old is yours?
Very interesting, thanks. He is half TB and thus very flighty at times and prone to galloping around the field. He has also tended to do stupid things as a youngster such as attempting, and failing, to jump out of his field, getting leg stuck in hay nets and racks etc so he could well have done...
Thanks so much everyone for all the help and support, I appreciate all the comments so much.
It seems that most people the best thing would be to turn him away for a few more months and see how he gets on. I was reassured in some way by the fact that nothing major showed up at the vets but it's...
Hi there, wondering if anyone can offer and help or advice.
I have a 3 1/2 year old horse who is very lame. It has gradually got worse over the last few months. I started to back him earlier in the year when he turned 3 and was just beginning to get him in the school to start some basic...
