A Lightweight with detachable neck and the liners underneath. So much more versatile combining than one rug for every occasion!!
I have two fully clipped horses that live out apart from in the worst weather and never use more than 100 or possibly 200 is the weather is terrible. Horses shouldn’t...
I had a grackle custom made to fit my thoroughbred about 6 years ago, it was made by a master saddler and bridle fitter and that has rings. As past poster have said I think it allows you to angle it more precisely. He found a grackle much better than any other noseband.
Agree that a change of scene like a fun ride can reinvigorate a laid back horse. If he’s naturally laid back it’s his personality, you can feed for more energy or train/change routine to increase his interest in work.
Feeding straights it my go to rather than mixes. Beet with some chaff or...
Sounds ideal! They can lie down on clean bedding and move around and poo in the rest of the stable. As long as the bed is thick then that’s fine for pony.
Not especially. The classic (the most expensive one) feels slightly more robust when it arrived and I think it takes the liner system. I haven’t got them out yet this year but will check when I do. I bought one to try and them got another one as a spare in the sale. You can’t get his size and...
The West Country has been dry in my area this year. Silage yields are down and only a few cuts. I luckily source my hay from a local company for whom it’s sideline from the main farm. I had a delivery last week of small bale £4:50 and bale and they have plenty left for existing customers this...
I use big horse shop for giant cob without issue. I have both the Broad fit epic classic and epic essential. Both are 1200d and have been fine in the winter. I also use an arch ale hood. The broad fly rug also fits him really well. I didn’t order a swish because reviews were less favourable.
This, my cob rides big and he can float in an arena, the Power is insane. I reckon he’s got a touch of ID in him but we’ll never know. Write a wish list and stick to it is my advice, if you know what you like then just go with it. Also possibly not a great time of year to look coming into to...
You are still so early in the post birth period give yourself some grace. I didn’t start riding again until 6 months after birth. I didn’t feel myself (and a new version of myself at that) for 2 years after giving birth. It’s really a life changing event no one prepares you for. Mentally...
Mine developed some after a stressful period. One flat and one modular. The modular was lasered off and the flat was removed with cream from the vet. Neither have returned since , for him I’m convinced they were triggered by stress and event which immunocompromised him. They have never returned.
I don’t follow any. Most of them can’t ride, watched about 5 minutes of H&C with them on and thought “who on earth listens to these girls/women?”. They couldn’t even answer basic questions from the trainers. It’s was utter tosh.
However, I don’t really follow many “influencers” apart from for...
That’s depends on how much they weigh/ how densely packed. If my big horses (16’3’s) are in overnight 6pm-6am, they’ll easily eat a bale a night. Small nets when they come In then the remainder is fed at 9pm when I skip out.
Or two slabs of a large bale each. Day turnout is on reasonable...
I was speaking to my neighbour and we’ve both had trouble with worms this year. The vet says lots of people have had trouble. Ours has both been tapeworm though.
One thing to consider is if you’re feeding hay/haylage is parasite can also spread via that.
I cross graze with sheep which I hope...
Bit random but human nipple cream might be worth a try. The Lasinoh on is just lanolin and soothing.
Or if verybad the Heel to hoof cream. I see that on some very dry creaked heals and I don’t see why it wouldn’t work a sore face as well.
