Age old ! Strip grazing advice

Thanks all, due to the location of the field the land owner has requested I don’t do a track nor is it left to grow too “wild and overgrown” so I feel the best way forward is strip grazing .

Age old ! Strip grazing advice

I have two natives living out 24/7 all year on 2 acres approx , fairly well draining and poo picked everyday ! neither are in work although do some ground work but wouldn’t really describe it as “work” I’ve worked hard at their weight over winter and both have lost approx 50kg since arriving...

    Relationship breakdown and two dogs

Don’t despair! There will be a home somewhere that excepts pets. I currently private rent with 2 large dogs , and a cat. I think we paid extra deposits for the pets and when we leave we have to have all carpets flea treated 🙀 . You can put key words into sites which throw up “ pets...

    Help - Fun Dog Show!

Aw ! well done isn’t it exhausting? I’m glad you took it for what it is and that’s fun. I can judge under KC rules but I find these fun shows really good fun and a welcomed break from the serious stuff! My last show I gave BIS to a very elderly collie type, this little girlie...

    Help - Fun Dog Show!

Unfortunately that only applies to companion dog shows are these are held under Kennel Club rules but I take your point on ringcraft practice although ringcraft clubs usually have their own shows for pups/handlers to gain experience .

    Help - Fun Dog Show!

I used to travel all over showing my dogs and have life time qualifications for Crufts and have judged a few fun shows . Judge it as it should be , fun! Don’t take it seriously anyone than does show their dogs I would hope they won’t show at a fun show and if they do I certainly don’t place...

Bedding suggestions for a wet horse

I used them yrs ago but it was on a concrete floor so perhaps that's why. A friend uses them but they look like very thin sawdust. My only concern with WHP is some reviews have said that the bags can get damaged in transit and the company haven't been good at replacing

    Advice please on new horse

I think your right I've expected an instant bond and it is very early days. I've had horses for 40 plus years( yes I know I'm old! Lol) so young ,old , mares , geldings however my horses are with me for life, yes they are all different but I've never had one so aloof however at my stage in life...

    Advice please on new horse

Thank you, your replies have made me feel a bit better. She's perfect for me in the sense she's very quiet and easy to handle. It just gets a bit soul destroying when I can't even get her in from the field without a real fuss and then when I groom her she's fidgety and stressed. I should say...

    Advice please on new horse

I've had ground work lessons( I'm not able to ride at the moment) and to handle she's very good however very lazy and totally disinterested apart from the other horses. I think I'm just struggling with any connection with her, I'm not looking for open arms in the morning but when she doesn't...

    Advice please on new horse

I suspect passed around, not due to her behaviour but circumstances . I've had mares before but I'm struggling with her. I'm unable to ride at the moment so doing ground work and although green it's her general attitude that bothers me, will do the least amount she can , pretty much ignores me ...

    Advice please on new horse

I'm neither a new rider nor a new owner but this horse is new to me and I'm at a loss I've had her 5 months but don't have a connection with her, has anyone else experienced this? I'm trying very hard and won't bore you with all the details but she's not the least bit interested in me, won't...

    Poo’s like Cow Pats!!

I bought a cob mare a few months ago, and had a similar issue. She's grey as well so I feel your pain! My vet ruled out any medical problems and we think it had been a change in environment plus she was in pretty poor condition I stuck her on a prebiotic and within a few weeks she now has...

    Border Collies

Have to agree with working gsd, a good dog is a good dog ,nothing to do with lines, colour etc. Most of our working dogs are " bare skinned" as we feel a heavy coat is a hinderance , when wet it takes ages to dry, snow clumps and in hot weather the dogs can over heat, however my show dog is a...
