So after all that she let me quickly tie a messy plait into a little ball and it looked ok. We both had a lovely time so that’s all that matters right ?
Thank you all.
Last night I made made a fake forelock from her tail hair and wrapped it around her headpiece to keep it in place. Its nothing amazing, but it seems to do the job when I messed with it this morning :D
This is my way of thinking, I dont want her first time out to be a stressful start, for both of us o_O. I would rather take her unplaited if it came to it, its meant to be fun after all (I think)
Im confident that in time she will be ok and accept me doing it, but I might be pushing my luck...
I can imagine this to be quite unpopular yes :):)
I dont stitch anyway, I only use plaiting bands.
I wont skin twitch her though, this isn't an option for me, but thanks for your reply :)
Hi, bumping up this from January as we now have our first inhand show in a few days.
But we have an issue, she will not allow me to plait her forelock... she is genuinely terrified, not sure if something has happened with this from her previous race yard and she has some bad memories or if she...
Thanks, Ill carry on with the trailer work with her. I take my other mare everywhere, just the 2 of us, so i'm maybe just being too cautious!
Groundwork I couldn't agree more, she is normally very respectful of me and my space but she pushed her luck a little with the 'exciting' situation she...
Hi all, a bit of advice needed for travelling a young horse in a trailer for the first time.
I have a 2.5 year old thoroughbred (May 2019), I have had her 5 months now, she never raced just trained.
She has only ever travelled in a 3.5t, 4 times... To the race yard she was sold too, to the...
Hi, I have never done any showing before, but would love to do a few unaffiliated, local showing shows with my youngster. She is 3 in May.
I have looked at the schedules from last year so I know what classes I can do, which is only the youngstock open, shes a thoroughbred.
Ive read a lot...
A 3 week up date from day 1 when I got her and 3 weeks later. A shame she is wet from the rain  but we can see she is starting to fill out nicely :):)
Thanks everyone, all very helpful. Ill leave her on her pink mash and alfa for now and get a balancer into her, see how she goes the next few month :):)
Alfa has been recommended by every feed company nutritionist I have spoken with, although I do understand the issues it may have caused other horses, ill see how she goes on it.
My other mare - a good doer - gets fed progressive earth pro balance.
Hi
I have already spoken to the majority of the feed nutritionist helplines, but id like to see what others actually feed...
Last week this 2 year old joined our family. She hasnt raced but has been race trained so is looking lean - (she will of course be turned away now to grow and mature)...
