    Nodding head when ridden

Thanks for the tips. Her teeth are due to be checked. I will start there I think and when I’m allowed get the vet/physio to take a look at her. She’s very much loved as I bred her so I want to get our sorted.

    Nodding head when ridden

My 5 yr old horse nods her head when being ridden. Not at the beginning of a ride but after about 20mins. I’m sure it’s when she’s getting tired and had enough of the contract. Any suggestions of what I can do to help? I’d ask my instructor but obviously not having lessons at the moment. It...

    Ideas for firming poo!

Thank you for all the advice. He looks and acts well and poo improved somewhat from taking out the Alfa oil. He’s been wormed very recently. Discussed it with the vet who said it’s probably just the haylage being a little rich and as he’s no good on hay and the poo is loose and not watery to not...

Are the more expensive Arena surfaces worth the extra money?

Thank you for all the comments. All very interesting. So sorry I thought wax helped stop it freezing in winter and holds moisture in summer? Why is it bad for feet? We don’t tend to wear boots apart from on one pony for jumping. We have lots of drains in and all the stuff underneath is to the...

Are the more expensive Arena surfaces worth the extra money?

Just constructing an arena (outdoor) for myself and my two daughters to ride on. Thinking Pre mixed and waxed is probably best. Had quotes from Andrews Bowen and Equestrian Surfaces. We are awaiting a quote from combi ride. Where we are is fairly exposed we ride about 5 x a week each mixture of...

    Ideas for firming poo!

Poo and breath smell normal and he looks in good condition and seems very well in himself just his poo isn’t as firm as the others, not sloppy but not firm as others. He is on wrapped hay (not quite haylage) as he gets a bit of a cough from normal hay even if it’s not at all dusty and he doesn’t...

    Ideas for firming poo!

Hi I have 6 horses. In the last few months one of the ponies has had loose poo. They all get fed the same and turned out on adjoining paddocks and only one has loose poo. My daughter was keen to feed Alfa a with oil so we added to their feeds, gradually of course, I’m thinking this could be...

    I rode my pony today!!

Well done. It’s the perfect tonic and helps lift my mood to get out with my girl, even if it’s just a cuddle in the field. Keep going. X

    Arena surfaces

Thank you for your replies. Our planning doesn’t stipulate what surface as use. Yes we are building ourselves, my husband has done them for other people to their spec. I’m struggling to choose!!

    Arena surfaces

Hi I’m sure this gets talked about lots but I’m completely betwix and between! We are building an outdoor arena for me and my 2 daughters to ride on. 4 or 5 horses/ponies between us and do a bit of everything. We are in the Cheshire gap so it gets windy, so nothing that’ll blow away...

Trying to do the best feed wise and getting confused!

Hi In nov I had my hay analysised. I was probably a bit naive and used a company that sell minerals. They recommended changing my feed to alfabeet oats and linseed as a base plus a mineral balancer to mix myself. Since then i have noticed a couple of our ponies getting little scabby pimples...
