Stormox, this is the thing, there is no particular pattern! Just recently she’s been ridden a lot and it happened today? Only once, but it was a big one and enough to get my daughter off ?
We have had our pony now for around 8 months, she‘s generally good however on the odd occasion she will chuck in a buck. This buck can come from nowhere and for what seems no reason. Saddle, back and teeth have all been checked and we seem to go a while without doing it and then just as you...
So good to read this thread! My Daughter’s pony is being a complete numpty at the moment and I’m thinking it’s the spring grass. Just when you think everything is going fine, another problem arises!!
Keep smiling everyon!
Just for my own sanity, has anyone else experienced sudden bad behaviour from their child’s pony this week? I’m putting it down to the spring grass that our 11 year old has suddenly turned into a demon (pony not child!) any advice? Many thanks x
So we have concrete stables and for many years have always used rubber matting. Just lately it’s become slippy and coupled with the fact the drainage is poor and urine sits underneath the mats we decided to remove them.
Please can I ask what are you opinions about concrete floor with Easibed...
Thank you all for your great advice, it’s much appreciated.
i should have said that we hack from our instructo’s yard and so he’s not coming back to ‘his’ stable.
Moving forward, we have cut his food right down (I think I always worried that if he was hungry he’d be naughty too!) our instructor...
Thank you for your reply. Funnily enough this is happening when he’s hacking from our instructor‘s yard so I can’t even blame it on that!
I have this evening cut his food back and our instructor is going to ride him out when they go out next. As for your suggestion with in-hand work, yes we do...
Thank you so much for your reply. As suggested by yourself and others I have cut his feed back this evening and will change the balancer and beet! He was on both the Alpha A chaff and balancer when he came to us, but dropped off hence why I put some of the speedi-beet into his feed! Also looking...
Thank you for your reply. He’s on chaff, comprehensive balancer and speedi-beet twice daily. At the moment he’s being ridden 3 times a week, not ideal but it’s winter!!
Nasicus thank you for your reply. At the moment he’s out from 7am to 4.30pm. Admittedly there’s not much grass but he has hay and has ad-lib in stable at night.
So after having our new pony since October, he’s started bucking when coming home from a hack which is making my 13 year old daughter very nervous.
Daughter is quite rightly nervous when heading out (with 2 other experienced riders) but naughty pony as soon as he realises he’s nearly home gets...
We have a new pony who is sometimes just a bit bargy on the ground and in the trailer. I’ve been looking at the prosafe headcollar, has anyone used these and can they be used whilst travelling?
Thank you for taking a look at my post, I'm in need of some advice. We have had a 11.2 mare for just over a year now, we introduced a 12.2 gelding to her on Sunday but things aren't going well. Unfortunately the gelding is being a real bully to her, and occasionally tries nipping her backside...
Hello, thanks for reading my first post.
Can anyone help? We are relatively new to the horse world, and I'm sure ponies are more resilient than what we think! Our little welsh sec a is tramping around in a muddy field at the moment and looks thoroughly cheesed off! At present wee don't have any...
