Hello everyone, I can see that there are more replies, but I cannot 'see' them. There's a huge ad over the screen that I cannot get rid of. Going to see if I can figure out how to attach a screen shot.

Unfortunately, although my daughter went on the BHS Road safe course, I'm not confident with her going on the roads, they're busy, dangerous roads near our yard. Thank you for the suggestions.

We've had her barefoot for a year, but the vet has advised shoes just to help her over the uneven surfaces (there's a lot in our yard, unfortunately.)

Yes, vet had mentioned this to begin with, but was pleased with her progress, so said no need to.

That's all really helpful, thank you for taking the time to post that. Are shoes a 'bad' thing, then? I appreciate that they can have a concussive effect. We don't do road work, though the ground can get hard on hacks...

Most definitely. We had a lot more put down over the winter months. Does it sound reasonable that front shoes would help with this?

No, she just said that she thought pony was a bit 'short toed' and that shoes would help her (as in protecting her from bruising).

Thanks for the thoughts. No, she's not at all footy in the field. It was just over the rough stony area next to where she was being trotted up. We also have a lot of hardcore on our yard, it's everywhere: dow to the field, to the school, and to get out to the hacking.

Yes, she's already ridden every day, my daughter hacks her out most days (no roadwork though) and schools her several times a week.
