Even more bad news about Robin

Oh the two of you really are having a rubbish run at the moment aren't you? He is very lucky to be with an owner so determined to do the best for him. Best of luck with the antibiotics, I have had success before now with the strawberry petit filous syringe method. Also honey. Also grated carrot...

What's a normal amount of wood pellets to get through?

Mine has about half a bag a day of soaked pellets to top up his bed. They are mucked out in the morning including wet taken out and then skipped out three or four times more during the day. He isn't the cleanest horse, but not that bad. We are very fussy about clean beds though.

WWYD .. mare doesnt like to be out in the field more than an hour

I know it's pretty much an article of faith with some people that all horses should spend the majority of their time in a field no matter what, because 'it's natural' and 'they like it' and 'it's better for them'. For some horses that's true. For other horses it isn't, but they have to suck it...

Help older friend realise she can’t go one with her horse like this ?

There is all sorts that could be going on here, and I think you could do well to avoid interfering. You don't say how old grandma is, or how experienced with horses, but caring for her husband could well be really taking it out of her, and the horse could be the only thing keeping her sane...

WWYD? Question for those that have equine or other mobile businesses? ( or anyone else that wants to comment)

I would have been cross too in that scenario. Do you know her well enough to explain why you were so disappointed with how she handled it, or will you just use someone else in future?

    Hay steamer

Mine got a haygain for Christmas and I am very pleased with it. He's normally on haylage over winter and wasn't coping well with dry hay and being stabled more, this seems much better. I've had friends with home made wallpaper steamer and wheelie bin affairs, but this definitely beats that. No...

    Sweetitch rugs

I rate the rambo sweetitch hoody for fit and comfort. Also very robust and lasts well. Any sweet itch rug makes horse warmer than would be otherwise, so you may find you want to clip through the summer if you wouldn't usually.

    Masta rug leaking

One of my fellow liveries had the same problem with the same rug. It was almost new, and the whole horse was soaked and shivering. Rain had been very heavy that day, but all the same. It wasn't just the domed bit and it wasn't just the seams, the whole rug was sopping wet inside and out.

    Horses that kick

I would ride with her again if she is prepared to acknowledge the behaviour is a problem and to agree a plan to ensure everyone stays safe in future, i.e. keep a safe distance between horses. Riding upsides one another close enough to be in kicking range when your horses aren't used to one...

    Not horsey but.....

Won't be having Christmas with my folks but thanking my lucky stars that's about rules and they are all healthy and happy. We will meet for a socially distanced walk in a park on Boxing Day. Am also very very lucky to have a very small but wonderful yard bubble to spend Christmas Day with. It...

Ah thanks Ester, I thought I had missed a trick there!

    Pictures *H&H plus* Welfare

This is all fair, but I do feel it's a pity they haven't found a way to join up print subscriptions with H&H Plus. Having paid for the content once, I am not about to pay again to access it online for those occasions where it's more convenient or for the odd video clip perhaps, so they are...

    bad livery

I think the livery you are owed could be considered a liquidated sum and you might be able to use the statutory demand route. You need legal advice.

    Grooming mitts

The gloves are good over large muscles but mine prefers a super groomer on his legs, ears and face, or a plastic pan scourer from the pound shop.
