Im desperate to find one of these, either Gp or Dressage.
Having had real saddle issues with my PRE mare, I finally got a saddler that understands the breed and we settled on a Nick Dolman as her withers seem to get trapped by a saddle where the flocking goes down the side.
Can I find...
That’s good to know, I was thinking about applying it specifically to the udder area and fly spraying the rest of as usual. She has little bloody bites there and I wanted to help prevent it.
My mare is getting little bites in between her legs near by her udders. Ive read that Avon So Soft works but Id like to hear other peoples opinions as to whether itll work before I try it.
Anyone got any advice? Thanks. 😀
You actually only need boots if you’ve dressed up, ie you have plaited and you’re wearing Dressage clothes. Otherwise you can wear any normal riding clothes but your horse needs to have Dressage legal tack and you need to wear gloves and no martingale.
It’s basically BD rules...
Hmm... Both awful and good.
I had my last ride on my gorgeous PRE boy in January on his birthday as I was 4 months pregnant with my 2nd child (and riding was so, so uncomfortable!) I am so glad I did as he had to be pts in April. His knee/leg issues (see previous posts!) had become so much...
Thanks for the replies, I'm hoping to increase the amount of ground work I do as the baby gets into a better routine and other small child starts school. The balance is going to be tricky!
I'll be getting some help from the yard, but want to think about starting some sort of a plan. I like...
I didn't want to resurrect an old thread, but I have a feeling my young mare is going to be, well, 'spirited'! She's a 3 yo unbacked PRE.
a bit of background, I bought her 4 months ago but I was heavily pregnant and subsequently had my baby so haven't done very much with her.
She's quite...
I cleaned up & spray painted 180 for my wedding, some as favours and some to decorate the church.
They looked beautiful and nearly every guest took theirs home. 5 years later everyone still has them! Me & DH had shire horse shoes and all the children had pony shoes. Also, only a worn horse...
You wouldn't have to get a yearling, you could get a nice unbacked 3/4 yo?
I know what you mean though, I got a yearling in 2011 and it was the most rewarding thing I've ever done.
Sadly he was pts in April as he developed swollen growth plates as a yearling (I bought him at 6 months...
This, if the new owner wants the old owner involved, then great, if not, then also great.
I'm in a situation (I've not updated on HHO yet!) where I'm in contact with both the old owner and the breeder before them. I'm perfectly happy for this and love the updates on siblings etc. I don't get...
I rode until I was 7 1/2 months with my first child with no problems until I was simply too large to get on and off comfortably.
With my 2nd however, I barely made it to 20 weeks. I was so uncomfortable that I simply couldn't continue. I'm on the understanding that with no 2, your ligaments...
In a word, nope! I've had very bad falls (broken bones) and very 'good' falls but tbh, I'd like to avoid coming off whenever possible.
I do get the theory, but you can't guarantee a good fall, you're either on or off.
I suggest you start building your confidence slowly at your own pace...
I'd have poured rubber matting. Even interlocking matting is a bit rubbish so it would be the first thing I'd do!
An indoor school as I'm a fair weather rider, and amazing hacking! 😃
