It's far 'meaner' to over rug in my opinion.
I got a shock the other day when it was about 7 degrees, i left my bad do'er of a TB's MW turn out on over night as it was a bit wet anyway and i wanted it to dry. Another woman at the yard asked what rug i was using at the moment as she liked to go...
My ex racer has one clicky hock, its worse on some days but usually he clicks a little bit every time he's on a circle. I've had a vet look who said not to be concerned unless he goes lame, she told me to try cortaflex just to see if it made any difference which it didnt! (she said if he was...
I'm 5"3 and own a 16.2 TB, we go together well as he's fine so my legs go reasonably far down his belly! My sharer is about 5"6 though and looks way better.
I can't ride my friends gypsy cob as i can't wrap my legs round him at all, it physically hurts me to ride him, he's 15.3 but built like...
My boy was diagnosed with kissing spines in 2011, i was 'gifted' him in 2010 so no vetting done etc. i rode for a few months and he soon started napping and getting anxious when his saddle was put on, got the vet up and he could tell immediately, xray done and yes severe kissing spines, not just...
My boy wears his fly mask when it is hot and sunny, if the flies are bad and he has nothing he just stands in the field nodding his head and not eating so i'd much rather he was covered even if the flies aren't always that bad. It does him no harm and he's always willing for me to put it on :) I...
I ride in an eggbutt snaffle every day and use bit rings :) so old fashioned!
Except i've only been around horses since 2006 so everything else is lost on me!
I love these kinds of threads so i had to join in!
I asked my sister how old her boyfriends sisters horse was, her response was 'oh shes only a pony' bless her, she thought ponies were baby horses!
Also recently my friend was advertising for a sharer for her 17.1hh ISH mare, she put a few pics...
This is interesting to read as my old share horse was a standardbred and it wasn't canter that was the problem it was trot! He would pace instead of trot and go into canter quite nicely from it, it was only in the school though, outside he tended to trot and canter like any other horse. I don't...
My horse cut his neck on barbed wire a few years ago, it was quite nasty but by the time we got to the yard it was too late for stitches. Vet gave me a tube of Flamazine, I applied it twice a day for 2 weeks and it healed up so well. It was left open and he was turned out daily.
If i had my horse at home i'd probably be in my PJ's all the time! I do sometimes chuck joggers and a hoody over mine if i'm just chucking out first thing but i get a bit hot!
I'm at a big yard though, noone wears their PJ's, including the people that live there.
My best friend has 2 (I couldn't do it) she has 3 sharers and gets 1 full day off a week. She copes, her horses live out and are kept reasonably fit. Without the sharers i think she'd struggle a lot!
This is my first post, thought i'd throw myself in where i saw something i could relate to!
I used to feel this way, until about August last year i was negative, negative, negative ALL the time. So i got an instructor, not your average shouty one, a nice, calm instructor who constantly builds...
