Hunting in my part of Australia.....

I'm sure that the farmers on Exmoor - the real ones, not dilettante, townie farmers like you and Aegit - have played a central role in preserving this beautiful region, but only the most fanatical of pros would insist that this preservation is dependent on chasing a stag for seven or eight hours...

    Interesting blog about hunting

Absolute rubbish. Once otter numbers started to fall hunters insisted that they would carry on hunting them - in much the same way that fanatics today like Aegit bang on about staghunting. If I have time tomorrow I'll dig out the official internal correspondence from the pre-cursor of the CA in...

    Cubbing?

Yes it is unbelievable isn't it - but, amazingly, true?!!!!!!! That's what they shout when out cubbing. Yes, fully-grown adults shouting "Tally ho back!" - you couldn't make it up!

And your way "to see a healthy, balanced population of all wild mammals and also a productive countryside, including livestock" is to frighten deer "just for fun". You're living proof of what happens when townies play being farmers.

    Interesting blog about hunting

Fox_Hunter, I know this will amaze you but there IS hunting outside the UK. I was referring to hunting whales or tigers or rhinos etc. Having said that, when otter numbers sharply declined in the UK it was hunters who carried on killing them, justifying their actions with exactly the same drivel...

Er... ok.... I don't think we should hunt endangered species. How about that?

    Disgusting!

I find it unbelievable that a humble police officer, who was simply doing his duty and trying to control the rioting hunters outside Parliament, is being tried for causing actual bodily harm. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4795491.stm What's happened to common courtesy and...

    Cubbing?

It is essential that your daughter starts practising the "Tally ho back!" squeals.

"I dea" was on purpose, Dumbo - I was copying thicko Aegit's original mistake in another thread.

    RIP Socks

The bottom line is whether you agree with me (and most other people) that if an animal has to be culled, it should be killed in the most humane way possible. By supporting staghunting, you - and indeed Tom, severnmiles, Claire etc. - obviously do NOT agree with this. It is this which divides...
