Judge will definately NOT ride at NFRC.
Expect it to be a normal showing class as per a riding club, with you doing a go around then an individual show, only difference is that you will have all at some point raced! ;-)
Sorry, I'm going to have to nit pick!
To do racehorse 2 riding horse, which is the SEIB HOYS series, horses HAVE to have raced. Similarly for any of the RoR classes, such as the hickstead qualifiers or the jumping one - they will check racing form when you register with them.
As for...
A transition through trot is fine, walk looks even better if you can do it! Definately not counter canter as quite a few of the ex racehorse judges around are not schooled or have knowledge of schooling, and would probably think you were on the wrong leg. I've been accosted in a warm up and told...
Sometimes, when very new the rubber section is hard to get off - for very small people I replace the rubber section with a hair bobble and loop that onto the leather inserts... better it ping off too easily than not atall.
Just a heads up - there is a fab annual equine car boot on tomorrow, its held at Mooreland Stables which is in North West Leicestershire.

I have been warned off rubber in indoors, apparently gets smelly in the summer? And have been told that woodchip can be slippy which might not be ideal for say novice riders who aren't balancing their horses on circles etc.
We have pasada/pvc chip on the outdoor...
Probably not stricly CR but I feel I empathise with you lot more than in some other sections!
I desperately need to update the surface on my indoor arena - would like to do it on a budget, by which I mean I'll spend a little more for quality that lasts, but I can't justify the sort of ££££...
I have a cob and an ISH I hunt unshod (hate the term "barefoot" ;-) ) - they do at least one day each week, the ISH jumps but the cob doesnt, neither have ever struggled with roadwork/tracks/slipping etc - most other mounted followers are usually compeltely amazed that they don't have shoes on...
Point taken FMM, but a horse "working in an outline" in showing is just that, its posing with the head in a certain place - its not a horse "working to a contact", through from behind, etc - no horse can do that with poor riding!
I have absolutely no wish to pay good money to put poor riders...
I had the same experience, same judge, same day - he had the horses head pulled to the outside, rising higher and faster and flapping legs in an attempt into canter, then brought it back to tell me it was unschooled ...
Oh and like yours, horse will do an elem test in a snaffle and is the...
The very "BHS" response is that no, it shouldn't work. However you will see a lot of horses hunting and hunt staff horses might have a standing on - and they probably do a lot more big jumping than your average horse!
I wouldnt get them near eyes, nose, dock, etc - I have all mine at the wither/neck.
Word of warning for the one horse owner - part of their efficacity is in tagging a whole herd, not one animal - so don't be suprised if they don't work so well if just doing one horse!
