Hiya, I've got a scruffy haired ibizan hound who has floaty wirey hair that sticks out and above the smooth part of his coat. He loves it when I cuddle on the sofa with him and pull his hair out (the wirey floaty hairey stuff).
So...is it normal for a dog to like his hair being pulled out...
I sometimes struggle to work out when my hounds bark - is it nervousness/anxiety or that they're frustrated and want to be let off the lead to play with another dog?
One of mine has a great howl! When the OH howls back, they all start and its very hard to get them to stop. It seems to work...
I have some of the fussiest, least food motivated dogs I have ever met, so far I find the following works:
Beef tripe (I buy mine from Manifold Valley Meats but you can get Natures Menu ones from Pets at Home)
Home made liver cake
Cubes of beef or veal
Goats milk yoghurt
Coconut oil
Good luck...
I am totally not green fingered at all but my new project is to make the garden look nice. The grass always gets so boggy and I have a suspicion that its been really badly laid and there is no drainage. So I could just relay the lawn and see how that goes. But has anyone done anything different...
one of my hounds is always getting comments....for looking like a goat! I don't see it somehow. (sorry for the awful photos, taken this week on a wet dog walk)
Poor dog! He sounds like he's had a rough time. I have 3 rescues all were very nervous and anxious when I first got them. He will improve, it takes kindness, patience, training and time. Clicker training is a fab start - I second looking up BAT training too. Its baby steps and no quick fix - try...
She is gorgeous! I had a GBdG who sadly passed 4 years ago but was the sweetest, cuddliest dog ever! His ears got SO messy when he was eating as they always hung in the food bowl.
Hi, I remember reading a thread a while back with recommendations of holiday cottages to rent and some of them were in France but can't find it. Me and OH are trying to find somewhere to go abroad with our 3 dogs so any suggestions appreciated!
my dogs are the same! funnily enough they're pointy faces as well! one of mine had necked a happy meals abandoned on the pavement before I had a chance to grab her! I shouted NO! which is usually their dead stop command and she just necked it even quicker (she was a starving stray at one point...
Thanks GG & FL - I'll try the longline idea. Just need to get myself organised and start planning individual walks! Yes you're right the two boys (brothers) are ibizans and the white one is just a podenco/galgo/something mix. They're all rescues.
Will let you know how it goes!
