Sales Livery in South East for Jumper?

I've come to the very reluctant conclusion that I'm going to have to sell my 9 year old 15.3hh ISH. I simply don't have time for him given I'm in London and I've had to put him on Full Livery since April, with no sign of things changing in the future. Unfortunately, the yard he's on at the...

Is it possible to sell (loan?) a headshaker?

The headshaking is very intermittent and none of us (vet included) can identify the trigger. At the moment he can go weeks without any headshaking at all - and he very rarely does it out competing for some reason. He wears a nose net and it seems to help. When he does it, he's still rideable, he...

Is it possible to sell (loan?) a headshaker?

As the title really. My horse is a headshaker - it's intermittent and he's rideable, in fact he's won/placed up to to 1.10! Fab jumper. However, my circumstances have changed unexpectedly since I got him 2 years ago. I now work in London with a long commute, and he's on full livery. I've given...

    Another "eventing cob" question.

Personally, I'd try the Universal. I'm an NS convert. I have an event cob - previous owner used an American gag on him all the time as she found him strong. He wasn't keen on it - he was always hollow and was nervous of the contact. I moved him to a Universal and then to an NS snaffle. He can be...

Horse getting very deep to fences

I have a short striding very careful little cob who likes to get in deep and helicopter over jumps, so this is a constant problem for me. The answer for us is to work very hard on the canter. If the canter is forward and powerful, but with his weight in his quarters and NOT on his forehand...

    Calling all cross country riders

I think this is almost impossible to test scientifically, given the number of variables. Horse ability/experience and rider ability/experience are key variables. PLUS saddle design that makes one rider secure won't work for another - body size and shapes vary enormously. Are you trying to...

Exercises for horse on forehand in canter

My irish bog pony (cobx) is a lovely little chap and very willing, but I'm struggling to get him off his forehand in canter. Anyone got any ideas? His trot is much, much better now, and we work on it with lots of transitions within the pace and between the paces. He's got a hidden dressage...

    Show Jumping Tips

Do you have any fillers at home you can practice over? If you just jump the fillers without a pole on top they are usually only about 2 foot, 2 foot 3. I try to jump fillers regularly at home, so I'm not spooked by them at shows. Note I say me not horse - horse couldn't care less about...

    Positions/Saddles & Rider Body type?

Great pictures and what a lovely horse! :D I have a very similar problem to you. I'm short (shorter than you), with short thighs, I'm always told to shorten my stirrups, and my toes turn out. The toes turning out thing might be related to tension elsewhere as well as the saddle. It is for...

Favourite sire? Or are we the only ones...

Ok, this is strictly for Arab fans only. If I was ever looking for another Arab, I'd have to say Prince of Orange lines. Truly lovely, kind natured old horse, passed away some time ago. Rode an amazing, one in a million mare by him, she seemed like more of a welshie than your 'typical' Arab...

    Gallops Surrey/Hants area

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I'm not that far away from Tweseldown, so Coombelands and Littleton Manor are pretty far to travel for regular use, but I might give them a try. I just wish they'd let us use the point to point track at Tweseldown! That would be fab. I wonder if they...

    Thanks - I don't know that area - will take a look! :)

    Gallops Surrey/Hants area

Anyone know of any gallops in the Surrey/Hants area? Our hacking is full of golfers, dog walkers, trail bikers, mountain bikers, pushchairs, fishermen, 4x4's, and largely consists of bridleways ruined by a combination of weather and vehicles. Not great for fast work, or any sort of canter...

    MATTINGLEY UNAFFILIATED 2013??

They did last year. It was a very nice inviting course, nothing very big.

    Buying a horse - paying

I would always pick up the same day if by bank transfer. Only done it once, and made sure that I was at the yard when I gave the go ahead by phone to transfer the money. It should be instantaneous with most banks.
