Any thoughts? My mare has been a windsucker for some time - she started this in the field when grazing got sparse. This did not affect, her performance and despite trying all sorts of deterrants , I couldn't get her out of the habit. However, due to divorce , I had to move her to a yard...
Anyone out there know of someone doing horse transport in Epping/Harlow area? Need a lift to the vet next week or week after if poss? My pony v good traveller and I'm happy to pay reasonable rates.
Any info appreciated!
I 've had and am still having similar experiences with my girl, so I really do know what you're going through. My mares scoping results were good and her lungs sound good but but still lethargic. Anyway, bloods taken showed she was anaemic and low cell count ( wondered if this had anything to...
Thanks for your detailed reply! spoke to vet today, vet says monitor what;s going on and try and identify trigger - no pattern to it. Off to Boots tomorrow to get a baby asthma mask and try an inhaler - good for a laugh as she HATES anything round her face.
Will mention cavalesse to vet .
I moved my pony to a wind tunnel of a stable, paper bedding, haylage, wet short feed , 24 hour turnout whenever poss but certainly out for 18 hours ish every day etc after COPD diagnosis ( respiratoruy rate twice what it should be) . This was two months ago, she had been prescribed ventapulim...
Best of luck with it all. I'm test driving winergy ventilate at the mo. Hope your horse improves when you move, I do know people who have had success with Morrisons anti histamines but not sure whether this is a good idea!
Thanks for your replies - She is on rubber mats and dust free bedding with soaked hay but decided to get paper and haylage. At the mo she is out - only just been out 24/7for 3 days ( was coming in at night) - does anyone know how soon I would expect to see some signs of recovery - and can I...
Thanks for your replies, day one of ventilate - also 48 hours turnout - I had been getting her in during the day cos she's a fatty. Hope not speaking too soon but she looks slightly better todayl, breathing still pronounced but looking more regular.
Will keep you up dated on the winnergy...
thanks for your replies - invested £36 in Ventilate today! Gonna give it a trial then get her scoped if no progress. She is perky in herself and was having a strop due to not getting fed on time - having a good old trot round with a face on!
But can still see a heave - and slight watery...
thanks for your replies - this is the frustrating part - I have stable on its own with no neighbours with hay/straw to pollute it, also the bedding is dustr extracted rape stalk (bedsoft pink one) - not flowering rape fields ( they leave me wheezing too) and she had been on this bedding before...
My pony has the beginnings of a heave line and clear watery discharge from nose - apart from that she is v perky and eating well etc but poor tolerance to any excercise - she is not being ridden. Vet has seen her and confirmed raised respiratory rate. She was out all day but in at night in not...
Thanks for your replies, only had saddle a week and ridden on it once. Too narrow for my cob and digging in her shoulder , fitter did get in touch and came to yard but saddle at home preparing to go on so unable to have a re fit.
Not happy at all and feel a tussle coming on.
Certainly...
Has anyone else had the joy of having horse "fitted" for expensive saddle only to find it doesn't fit? Would like money back but suspect going to have a tussle! Anyone else had this experience - it seems that in the horse world we accept this whereas if it was anything else you'd bought you...
Can anyone recommend or has anyone had good experiences with osteo in Epping/W Essex area? Found better saddle for my girl but back sore from old saddle....any thoughts appreciated,
Cheers chaps - that's given me some food for thought, now to get hold of saddle fitter who was supposed to be getting back to me:confused::confused:..groan
