Seeking pony angel! - Dealers in E Anglia

Having just retired my pony I'm looking for a new neddy. I've ridden for years and have probably become a little complacent with my bombproof mare. I would like a steady safe hack but finding something privately is a nightmare as often the seller hasn't the facilities to try out effectively or...

    Lunging/riding which is most beneficial?

Agree! Inefficient rider possibly causes more problems due to weight the horse having to carry. I personally prefer long reigning as you can we AND feel what a novice horse is doing.

When to call it a day?

19 yo NF mare history of laminitis, pedal bone rotation but several years of remidal trimming. Gradual then accute left fore lameness. X-rayed and scanned poll/ neck to hoof but no significant reason for lameness. Little response to bute therapy and Physio. Vet advises he has done as much...

Help required, new greyhounds arriving Friday!

Hi, visit www.greyhound-dat.com and you can search for your greyhounds name/ ancestry by clicking on 'dog search' link on the home page. I found Dawko on there! - I don't think there can be many dogs with that name. Gypsy might cause a bit of a problem as there are many with that name and...

Accident Prone Greyhound update and a Q

I've two greyhounds and one of them usually has some cut or scrape that needs attention. Dee Dee has managed to rip out one of her claws in the past which needed a couple of weeks of pressure dressings to stop the bleeding. Mel has something called a 'knocked-up' toe, basically she has...

    greyhound

I was once told the worst thing you can do is trust a greyhound! Having two of my own I know what they meant. I'm live in a very rural area and can let my two off lead and their recall isn't too bad. However if I walk them in a built up area, they are muzzled as one of mine once lunged into...

    Dog Rescue Charities....

Regretfully I had to return a dog to a very well known rehoming charity. Inspite of trying all of their suggestions, our lifestyle did not suit the dog and it was making his and our life miserable. The charity actually made it very difficult for us to return him, and the guilt they made us...

    Dogs and cats together

Ensure if you are planning a rescue dog that the re-homing kennels know you have a cat. Although most charities will assess the dog for cat-friendliness it is no guarentee and extreme caution needs to be carried out when introducing cat & dog. I have two retired greyhounds and they were...

Electric fencing for dogs - has anyone used it please?

I'm not convined it would stop a greyhound on pursuit of murder. There is a house near us that has this type of fencing and it doesn't stop their dog crossing it on the way out, but the dog won't return home as it knows it will get a shock as it tries to recross the 'line'. One of my greys...
