Where to advertise for a sharer

I may be looking for the impossible, but any suggestions on where to advertise for a sharer? I am not sure I can face the fb idiots. She is currently only in light work (only due to my lack of time). She is SJ bred and very talented, but has never competed regularly as I don't have transport...

    DDFT injury

My mare had ddft surgery 5 years ago. Hers was above the pastern. She had a mild swelling for 6 months before going lame. The surgery revealed an adhesion had ruptured. The damage was to the edge of the tendon so they basically shaved the side off. Prognosis was poor 50/50 chance of being sound...

Unaffiliated vs affiliated & calendar oversaturation

There is nothing left in Kent anymore. We have one affiliated venue within an hour (winter only) and it is crap. I am not currently competing, but not sure of bs is worth it unless I can find the time and childcare for stay away shows.

Showjumping - buy one of the new padded whips or just go with no whip at all?

It depends on if the pony needs it, but I would say they are quite chunky for little hands.

    Girth Recommendations

English bridles have a leather one in stcock in that size. I have one and it is really good quality and very soft, but the price seems to have gone up a lot. I got mine at a show a couple of years ago for about £50.

    Rugs with liner systems

I have a fal pro (when they were made by HW) 100g outer with 1,2 and 300g liners and it is great. I have 2 of each liner so I can wash regularly which is so much better. Not heavy at all and really easy to detach. Also the liners take up a lot less storage space than multiple turnouts

    Tell me about mesh coolers

My mare is quite a hot horse and even in winter finds a thermatex a bit warm especially after work. I have just got a shires rug that has a thermatex type top and mesh sides which is working well for her.

    Pictures Mane turning gray

I have a bright bay kwpn whose mane is turning grey. Not as grey as yours yet. Her forelock is mostly grey and the underside of her mane is very grey. She has a few hairs in her tail too. No idea what causes it. Neither of my mares parents had it. I think it looks lovely

    Those on full livery.

    1) Almost everything 2) Better hacking and an indoor would be nice ? 3) Nothing really, can have as much or as little input as I want 4) Not better but equal. Allows me to travel for work. Once baby arrives then probably better than me Edited to add this is part livery

    Stirrups

I have one week ankle which is quite unstable. I use anatomical jins (wide footbed and angled) and find them good. Ankle is more stable riding with them than walking on the ground

Feeling a bit depressed about hacking

Decent hacking is a bit of a luxury now a days. Mostly drivers on our roads are ok (always a couple of idiots), but we do have a lot of lorries and large vehicles. Luckily my horse is fine with traffic. Off road is pretty crap though. There are 3 very short, overgrown bridleways one of which is...

    Current thinking on box rest

My mare had ddft surgery and was on box rest for nearly 6 months. 3 weeks total box rest and then hand walking building up to ridden walk and trot. She then went in a small very grassy pen (took her 2 days to lift her head) after nearly 6 months, small field at 8 months. I couldn't hand graze...

    HHO's "Bear" project pony...

Sorry you are going through all this. After her ddft op my mare didn't go out in anything more than a pen (about 2 1/2 times stable) until she was cantering under saddle. I knew she would be an idiot and was happy on box rest so we decided it would be better. Might be worth considering if you go...

    Manica tear injury

Not manica, but my horse had a ddft injury at fetlock level and then an adhesion ruptured. She had an operation, which I would have thought would be similar. The op cost just under £3000 I think. She wasn't insured and the vets were really good about keeping the cost down. She wasn't very lame...
