    Getting a hat fitted

Actually that’s not a bad idea - I haven’t been to Olympia since pre-covid, and when it was still actually at Olympia… maybe I should treat myself to a day out and a new hat 🤣

    Getting a hat fitted

Yes calling beforehand now seems the norm. I used to go to Paddock Pantry in Sturminster Newton but they stopped selling equestrian gear and only do feed now. Just a bit disappointed that the two places I thought were good, were disappointing. Thinking Wadswick might be the place to go, only...

    Clipping and living out

NF with PPID is fully clipped in a 50g wug (so no neck), but will move up to a 100g with a neck if it gets cold. Hes is funny, gets shivery if wet (which is poss the PPID) although he doesn't mind his neck getting wet. I tried wintering him with a full coat the first year I had him, but he...

    Getting a hat fitted

Been trying to find a tack shop that properly fits a riding hat! Been to two, both who said they fitted hats but the assistants didn’t measure my head, just handed me the hat and asked if I liked it. They didn’t feel around the edge of the hat, or do any of the “normal” hat fitting things like...

    Rambo wug weight

I have same and it’s 200g. Mine is quite old so I suspect it is now more like a 100g. Superb rugs. I have a couple of newer wigs too, and they are also great.

    Kimblewick Bits

This! In the 80’s keen ponies had kimblewicks - mine always had it in the autumn as he would be a bit wild! Much prefer it to a 3 ring gag and lots of ponies like it. Always useacurb chain guard though.

    Goodbye Lari

Also late to this sad news, @Birker2020 so sorry, you absolutely did the best for him. Look after yourself 🌈 🐎

Buying agent recommendations South West please

Local Pony Clubs would be a better idea. See if there’s an experienced jumper who can teach child the ropes, one that’s been through the levels with other riders. Personally, I’d be wary of using agents, unless it’s someone known to and recommended by the child’s instructor - who can also be...

Recommendation for a facemask for horse about to have eye op

Final update: the biopsy result showed clear margins so 🤞 the melanoma won’t come back. Eye looks amazing and I am sure she must be more comfortable now.

Recommendation for a facemask for horse about to have eye op

OPERATION UPDATE! Our lovely mare finally had her op on Monday (after flies and heat saw it postponed several times), and the offending melanoma was successfully removed. Luckily it was only attached to a bit of her eyelid, and had not damaged any surrounding structures. I was surprised how...

    Rambo supreme 50g turnout

Wow - I bought two on eBay, with neck cover 100g for £85 and 50g for £50 😳 I had no idea they were this expensive! The best rugs I have ever had and am feeling a bit happy; both my rugs are virtually brand new.

Yes thanks, he seems absolutely fine! He feels great - have started him back in light work for ten days before returning to his normal work. He's def feeling better, so no damage done :)

    Laminitis? SOS

Good that the salmonella test came back negative. Was he eating hay at the vets ok? Is there something in the hay - could you try some hay from a different source? (Bag of haylage - do they do that in the US??). Like others, I think I would just let him have what he wants for now to settle him...

    Laminitis? SOS

Cheeky boy, he sounds adorable! Good on you for staying steady even when it sounded so scary there for a while. I hope you are able to relax a bit now, even with your move!
