    Moving to Huntly area

If you pm me a couple of days before you are down & it's during the week, I'll try and free up an hour for a cuppa in between clients? I'm between Huntly and Keith. Trying to think if there any clinics on around here next week so you could go along and meet folks but can't think of anything...

    Keith huntly area

Hi Pip Gosh what a wet winter Shetland has been having - when are you moving down? My 2 shetlands and the Icey cross came down from Shetland 5 years ago - I hunker down next to them in a bad storm and remind them just how much worse the storm will be up in Shetland. I live along and up from...

    Keith huntly area

Hi Pip Dog - welcome to the area when you get here. Currently gusting 50mph with yucky wet stuff sideways at speed out side! Whereabouts are you moving from? I moved to between Huntly and Keith just over 5 years ago - lots and lots of horses everywhere and some lovely folks. If you look up...

    Forres/Nairn/Inverness

Welcome to the area! If you can find somewhere between Brodie/Forres and the sea I'd hope you'd get access to the amazing hacking at the Culbin forest. Ellands has a huge outdoor school and does BS and I think some BD too? http://www.ellandslivery.co.uk Not sure if Mundole EC still have liveries...

    Livery costs Aberdeenshire

Hi pip-dog If you go on to Facebook and search for Glenside Stables, Huntly (I can't find a link - apologies) - it's wonderful new small yard with fabulous 45x25m sand and rubber school and backs on to forestry commission for wonderful hacking. I think their grass livery is £35/week? Good...

    Livery yards Fraserburgh/Turriff area

There's Philorth at Fraserburgh... and another yard on a farm about a mile further along - not sure of the name - sorry! There's a private yard in Turriff along past the hospital - ask around in the local feed shops or put an ad up on their notice board or put a post up on the fb pages for...

    Icelandic Horses

I returned to my icelandic riding roots 3 years ago when The Hairy Horse came home. I'm 5 foot 10 and a bit and went from a 17.2 eejit sports horse to 13.3 of hair. Long story. 35" inside leg! It took 18 months for him to "let me in" - he's quite aloof and independent compared to my 2 shetlands...

    Those who have minis.....

I hear you... Mine get matted behind the armpits if I leave it too long (only happened once)... how long are we talking about here? You could bib or trace leaving nice hairy protected legs but would clean up the pits and cool them down a lot? I'm always a bit hesitant until I think the big...

    Those who have minis.....

I've an Icey too (waves to Gloi!), an Icey cross and 2 shetlands who live out 24/7 1000 feet atop a hill. I get them bib clipped mid Jan - end Feb time depending on where the winters at as it's just too warm for them to work otherwise. The bib means that if it rains it just drips off the side...

    Hoof separating

My youngest shetland has had this off and on - less so in the dry - and I've never quite beaten it (other 3 no prob)... I put them all on to forageplus winter hoof balancer just over 3 months ago and it's virtually all gone - I am stunned! I've been working on finding the right mineral balance...
