This is really interesting. I agree with sitting and waiting quietly. Sometimes bullying them to go can work but I don't think an argument is always the best idea. I'd get angry when they use an excuse to turn and piss off home but a gentle persuasion and patience when they just won't go...
Thank you for the replies. That's very helpful! I am used to plaiting manes at least twice as long as what many would consider pulled (that's how owners liked them kept) so with a much shorter mane hopefully I'll be a touch quicker.
