Ditto what everyone else had said, ive done the common rides for 20 odd years and ive always had a follower come to the rest stops with a picnic and water for the horses. Its a welcome sight a sandwich and a lovely cool bottle of water lol.
I usually ride with a friend who hires from the same...
I do think 12st is a low limit to have, but not knowing the type of horses they have it may well be practical. The RS i go to has a limit of 16st which is only loosely enforced and they have a majority of cobs and ID types. In every instance of me booking a ride in a new RS i was always asked...
My last horse was put in foal as a 3 yr old. They backed her early purely to get her to come into season!! ( she eventually ended up at 17.1hh so matured late as it was) I personally dont think horses should be bred until they are mature themselves first.
Please make sure you always send it recorded if its something you dont mind loosing. I learned the hard way and had to refund the buyer as the breastplate apparently never arrived :/ So i was out of pocket money wise and lost the breastplate too :(
Ever wondered what the Border Common ridings are all about? This Article explains better than I ever could :) Thought it would be nice for those who never venture to the Scottish Borders.

Fab pics and what a cracking day its been for you :)
Re the strangles, ive been doing the rideouts for years and every year without fail a yard somewhere has strangles. Its each to their own regarding the risks involved. I usually hire a horse but thats purely because i dont i have my own :D...
If your really worried about them pinching your horse, and you dont show or plan to, I would put purple spray on her legs to deter them. Its a pain to wash out and very easily spotted and difficult to cover if on the legs. Then i would arrange to get her freeze marked. Better safe than sorry.
Fab pics :) I love looking through the common riding photies, gets me in the spirt for doing some of our local ones. Doing Flodden this year and very very looking forward to it :D
Ditto above about getting an instructor.
The other thing it could be with him still being young is that he may have changed shape so his saddle may no longer fit. Personally if he were mine id get everything checked to rule out pain before calling it behavioural. A good instructor should pick...
New owner i would have thought. I paid towards the diesel for the old owner to transport new horse to me with their waggon and we collected old loan horse too. Its nice if you can get delivery for free but i think id always collect or pay anyway.
Hi, Ebay are really clamping down on items being advertised and then sold outside of them. It is against their terms and conditions, but i do know lots of people do it.
Best thing to is to end the current listing, Re- list it with the new price as a normal auction and tell the interested party...
I wouldn't do any which make a point of galloping up the road if your horse is young. I can't remember all of them but I know Langholm and Selkirk do, Hawick is hard and very fast (more like a days hunting) Avoid Kelso- Yetholm and Coldstream-Flodden ( these are very large numbers- Flodden this...
I would just ask to send the saddle back if your not happy, but please please send it recorded as then they cant say they didn't receive it, oh and take photos of it so again its condition cant be disputed. Ebay work very much in favour of the customer so you should get your money back.
