Is this def. a genuine petition/movement. Happy to sign and am always signing and often letter writing to MP's on the subject. Just the page came up all garbled when I clicked through.
You can give them a monthly donation. I do a direct debit each month - whatever you can afford. You don't notice it but it means a lot to the Brooke I know.
Fascinating. Just watching the mare about to foal and was thinking, why have they left the headcollar on, dangerous surely and the next minute she gets catches the headcollar in her water bucket, pulls back and send the bucket and water flying. Could have been nastier if the bucket was fixed to...
Have you considered removal by laser surgery? Cost wise probably not dissimilar and considered v effective. Obviously needs to be done at a centre of 'excellance' for this rather than any old vet practice but I have experienced this and touch wood, it was an easy and uncomplicated process with...
An interesting question. I have noticed this year that some suppliers' haylage gives my horses very, very running droppings. 2010 haylage from a previous excellent supplier was unuseable because of this causing me to try others - some of which also did the same. My theory is that some farmers...
Get some diclofenic (3 x a day) down you! You can buy it over the counter - the name is different but the chemist will give you the right stuff if you ask for diclofenic. You will then be able to work as there will be no pain and keep active but probably best not to ride in case there have been...
Ah, since I can't ride atm, second best is to criticize someone else! It looks similar to me and my boy actually so maybe my comment will be of use. Often there are several dynamics going on when its not going quite right I have discovered. Looks like a chicken and egg situation going on, as has...
The BHS have a welfare dept (still, I hope) and they were good when I had to seek help for some horses. They came out, got a vet and then removed the horses very quickly.
I had a similar experience with my mare. She started quidding about 1 year after I bought her as a 4/5 year old. Only on hay - hard feed and grass ok. Dentist and vet checked her and said there was nothing wrong with her teeth. However, I took her to Newmarket vets and, under general anesthetic...
I would very much like to see a statement from the Royal Festival of the Horse organisers/Royal Agricultural Society regarding the matter. In particular, a brief report from the vet that examined Catwalk on Saturday a.m. and found a lesion and confirmed that Catwalk would not be used in the demo...
I was there Friday evening and would like to report what I experienced. From the point in the evening that PP ‘led’ the horse round by its tongue (he also had a halter on Catwalk and this was prior to the gumline and leg tie up) I started to feel uncomfortable. I have been interested...
BHS representative phoned FoTH organiser who sent the vet to look at the horse. BHS reported back that the vet had examined the horse, found the lesion on the gum and that the horse would not be used in the demonstration the next day.
I am sorry to say it is true. If you would like to ring the Festival of the Horse organisers - Alice Bell 02476 858276 she will confirm this. Andrea Jackman, BHS Development Officer 01686 627050 is also aware of the situation. Both acted admirably at the time and I thank them.
