Hi. we have a 3.5 ton hire business based in the south west midlands so nowhere near you but I can give you a few pitfalls. Insurance 1500 inc 22 - 25 yo cover, breakdown 300, short refuelling 500, damage repair 1000, service / maintenance / tyres etc 1000 avg. Unsociable and variable hours...

    Deposit for self hire horsebox?

We hire out 3.5 ton boxes in the midlands and I think there is some confusion as to whats being asked for. There is only one mainstream insurance company that covers self drive hire and we all use them through various brokers. LV impose a minimum 500 insurance excess, some hire companies require...

    3.5 ton coachbuild recommendations

Hi has anyone got any good builders on a decent budget?, I'm looking to spend about 15k including vat. I did have a builder up in Lancs to do it for around this but he seems too busy at the moment to be interested so I'm hoping I may be able to shop around a bit.

what can I do about flies?

Cheers guys, I found a single bottle of power phaser on the shelf at countrywide the other day. It works brilliantly but it only lasts for 7 hours as per the bottle and 1 spray bottle did my 5 twice. So I'm slightly further forward but could do with something that works this well but lasts a lot...

what can I do about flies?

I've never seen so many horse flies, 2 of our girls have fly masks on but there are as many flies underneath it as on top. Field is very close to the river so you can imagine. What is the most effective fly spray and what can I use around their eyes where they are getting horribly attacked?

    £52.25 for opening a gate!

I've just had my bill for laminitis treatment, our vet made 3 visits one of them to tape frog supports to her feet the other 2 just for visual progress checks. She lives 10 minutes away but works for a practice based miles away. Just found out that those 3 visits have cost me 300 in travel alone!

Thanks, lots of great advice form lots of posters and I'm using lots of it. I've got her farrier booked in for next week but whilst I was doing her feet today I was struck by the smell and the necrosis from her frogs. I gave them all a good clean and a spray with a purple disinfectent hoof...

    I . AM . FURIOUS !!!!!

I would have thought this would come between road rage and dangerous driving, there are a lot of idiotic drivers who think they have more rights than horses, pedestrians and cyclists wheras cars actually have less right to use the highways. I hope the daft cow was stuck behind you for...

Hi, I'm not going to rush into those tests with the way she is recovering so far. She has only been in for 2 weeks so she is far from fully mended. Her weight is down by 15% on a tape, pulses and heat are gone in her feet and her stance is correct. These pics are an idea of what we have brought...

2 weeks into her stabling and the vet says she is ok to begin walking. We thought she deserved a bit of the sunshine we are all enjoying too so brought her out for a bit of a feed today and will start her waliking round the arena on saturday.:)

Thanks for all the advice guys, we have had an offer from our fantastic local riding school to take her in and stall her with some other ponies in 9 inches of shavings until she is better, she'll be in the reception area so fussed and monitored 12 hours a day. I think we will take up the...

No sorry, soaked hay....I've been trying to spread it a little to stop her trying for the little grass she can find and to hopefully cushion her feet a little. [/IMG]

She has got frog supports which we are checking twice a day, I have got quite a bit of hay down but she eats it!, I fear shavings may blow away where it is.
